Feeding them food from your inventory doesn't prevent hunger. If a hunger check pops up, just click the "Eat" button in the window and it should feed your party properly.

Your characters don't get hungry in Darkest Dungeon. The way hunger operates is like an obstacle (pile of rubble or whatever)... there's specific (hidden) tiles on the dungeon floor that are marked as hunger tiles. When you step on them, it triggers a hunger check, regardless of when your party has last eaten (supposedly you can't get two checks in adjacent hallways though, except possibly if you're backtracking). So don't feed your party in advance, ever, unless you're desperate for the healing.

Yeah, this is messed up and should be considered a bug. I mean it's silly enough the way hunger works in this game, but to have your characters starve because they are too full of food to eat anymore is just some next level ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

you misunderstood
they were ALL FULL after i killed the croc and a few hexes after stepping out of the corridor hunger pops up again
and i have 4 food ready to spend

problem is, because they're FULL they can't eat, so they must starve
eitherway that was at the end of the dungeon and a i just suffered a few stress hit
but this is definitely a bug, on the screen it says party starving, but the heroes are full
pick one.

So you give your party food after fight the croc, each hero 4 food until there are FULL words when you give them any food. Then you walk out the room then there are pop up that said your party is hungry. You have 4 foods in inventory, then you must choose either to eat or not right?

Then the problem is when you choose the eat option the party says they are full so you cannnot eat and you must choose not to eat then your party stressed out, is that it? If its true then i think its a bug because supposedly your character always eat when hunger pop up appears even you already give them 4 food per hero before hunger checks.

that's exactly what happend, they were all full (if you try to feed them a message appears says full)
and there is no accept click for the hunger check even though i have 4 units of food
so it's not just a courtyard bug, it's a universal one

So the problem is no "eat" button at the pop up? It just blanks? Nothing? What about the "dont eat" button? It is still there?

there is just the starve button
the eat button is blank

Im thinking some probability here, you have minimum amount of food for ate in inventory, which is 4 right? Maybe one of your character have disease that makes him eat more? Or maybe one of them have stress eater quirk, so you cannot choose eat because 4 food is not enough?

nope, all disease free and like i said one of them was a stress faster (and he had like 70 stress on)
it's definitely a conflict bug, whenn the party is full but you still get the hunger popup and they refuse to eat

I know this post is a few days old but, I encountered the same problem today.
Still had 4 pieces of food left in my inventory, but only given option was to starve and take the stress damage.

Not sure if it's related, but I saw Hunter's Talon (+50% Food Consumed) cause "Eat" tooltip to show "Eat 5 food" but actually only 4 food is spent. Perhaps a bug is added somewhere around this.
What The Sigmar? Aug 13, 2017 @ 2:38pm
You sure you didn't have any trinkets, quirks, or diseases that cause additional food consumption? If so, 4 food certainly wouldn't have cut it.

I've stuffed a character or two with food to the point of being full and then activated a hunger check, never had any problems what-so-ever. I can't help but think there must be something that's being overlooked.

nope and nope, like i said i had one character with a POSITIVE faster quirk
they refused to eat because they were full, not because of any quirk or trinket

if you have the time to waste try it yourself, when you have a full party walk around empty zones until hunger is triggered, you'll see you can't eat
