Question about the game's loot/inventory management
I'm a new player and i was wondering what is the point of doing harder and longer missions aside from their completion reward?
They give you more loot but you are still limited by your inventory capacity so you end up having to drop stuff anyways, so that extra loot doesn't really do anything. I pretty much end with the same money/heirlooms as if i had done a short/medium mission.

I thought there would be some kind of upgrade to expand your inventory but apparently not.

I'm sure a question like this has been asked since this game is so old, but i actually didn't find anything.

No, you definitely get more loot with a medium over a short. I only do longs when there's a reward I'm wanting, but I don't go on them otherwise. That said, if you really want to optimize, you'll need to bring an antiquarian. She can allow you to carry much more than you could otherwise, but in my opinion, medium is good enough, and that's without her.

Most of the time mediums are the sweet spot, you get enough treasure/heirlooms to fill your inventory and a campfire for you to use. Longs are not necessary but they do offer the highest rarity trinkets at any given difficulty tier and should be checked when they're around. Also, for what it's worth long missions will always have a secret room.

One thing that is not being mentioned is that longs give the most exp. So, if you were trying to play in as few weeks as possible, and wanted to level quickly, you would use longs to do so. But for general treasure hunting, mediums are good.
