Is there any way to mod the ingame music?

I'd like to modify the ingame music playlist with some music I like,
such as soundtrack from Larva Mortus, which has similar atmosphere.

I think the files are locked in game specific format... can the dev
make it mod compatible?

I've already checked this. Short answer is that's one part of the game that isn't mod friendly and they aren't prioritizing mod support. I can almost do it but there is one thing that blocks me.
