[Tangent] Blades in the Dark Tabletop RPG

I'm a huge fan of tabletop RPGs and Darkest Dungeon. I've been pondering ways to mix the two while avoiding Torchbearer... and now I think I've found the perfect vehicle!

It's called Blades in the Dark, an evolution of the excellent Apocalypse Engine. Right now the kickstarter is doing pretty well. One of the stretch goals that have already been hit is a dungeon crawling playset. BitD already has downtime between missions, stress relief, trauma, teamwork and horror elements. Honestly, all the playset needs to do is make neat playbooks and introduce some kind of torchlight mechanic and we'll be set!

Any reason you're avoiding Torchbearer? Not aware of any greasiness from those guys, though I know next to nothing about that game other than it exists.

Torchbearer is a little too heavy for me, mechanically. Of course, its that same thing that many folks enjoy about it and its precursors. :)

I promise you, the "heavy" thing is a misconception. The game just _flows_ once you get the hang of it. It really is Darkest Dungeon, but tabletop. That's the problem with all the BWHQ games - at first read they appear waaay more complex than they really are.

You are probably right. Still, I have an affection for games that are Powered By the Apocalypse and this is an evolution of that. Also, it is being made by John Harper and he is a pretty rad dude!

This game looks super fun. Like playing Dishonored, only in the city underworld, and as Daud.

Missed the kickstarter campaign by 1 day. What a bad luck. But then the author confirmed he will be finding a way to include the late comers somehow.

The KS includes so many different playsets in wildly varying settings and at a minimum of 20 bucks. It is a steal!
