Automatonophobia?
Isn't that the fear of puppets and other objects representing a human being? Does this mean that cursed puppets and dolls will be added at some point or another? And why does this fear in-game translate to fearing humans? Just seems a bit odd.

1. yes

2. maybe?

3. maybe they'll fix it. i believe the fear of humans is anthrophobia (don't take my word for it). maybe they should change it to "fear of humanoid figures" unless that cursed doll thing is what they plan on.

It doesn't strictly apply to humans, at least I think. Some of the enemies in the weald are classed as human and the penalty still applies. That said, if they wanted to creep me out then bring on the cursed dolls.

Those eldritch/human enemies in the weald used to be human before they were taken over by some sort of fungus.

Right, I get that but you can hardly consider them human anymore so having the condition called 'anthrophobia' (don't know if this is the correct word anymore than the person who mentioned it) wouldn't be appropriate.

Taken straight from that renowned expert in medical phraseology, Doctor Wikipedia:

"Automatonophobia is the fear of anything that falsely represents a sentient being"

I'd say this would apply to the "human" enemies we're fighting. They aren't really human anymore, as they've been so thoroughly corrupted... but they still retain a vaguely human appearance.

The fear of humans would be Androphobia, though this literally translates to fear of man.

No, more like fear of males.

We are homosapiens.. So the correct one here would be homophobia^
Fear of humans and creatures closely resembling humans.

Fear of humans is anthrophobia, as Baywatch has already stated. It comes from the Greek 'anthropos' meaning man (as in human being, not male) and phobia meaning fear. Homophobia is an unreasoning fear towards homosexuals and/or homosexuality.

"♥♥♥♥" in Latin means "man" (as in ♥♥♥♥ Sapiens). "♥♥♥♥" in Greek means "same" (as in homosexual). We usually try to keep rootwords from a given language together and phobia is Greek, so "homophobia" would technically mean "fear of same" (though really it's "fear/hatred of homosexuals" because the phobia takes it's name from homosexual and not directly from the Greek roots"). Anthrophobia is probably the best option. It's also a real word (sometimes as "anthropophobia").

Curse this thread for awakening my inner linguist.

Dude knows all this but can't figure out what the "mark" means in-game?

I love it. Yesterday, someone explained to me why people generally do not apply to be slaves and today.. I learned that homophobia is actually a fear of homosexuality^
I feel truly humbled.
Thank you.

Assuming sarcasm at all levels, I wasn't presuming that you didn't know what homophobia meant in reality. I was just correcting your apparent misunderstanding of etymology and word construction, which may have been genuine even if sarcasm was intended.

Also, no need to insult grail666.
