Red question mark on hero???

One of my “heroes” has a red question mark on his portrait and the character itself is unavailable, the portrait is greyed out.
What does it mean ?

The hero left for some reason. Click the scroll icon and check the log to see what made him leave. It can occur from all kinds of stress relief.

They will eventually come back.

If you check your journal you will see they have taken some much earned rnr, dont worry, he/she will be back in a week or two :)

This has not happened to me yet and I have 13 heroes at lvl 3+. I feel left out :/

It's new that it displays that way. It used to just have them go missing from the roster.

Oh ok, that makes sense. I did have heroes vanish before with no warning and I thought it was a bug. This way is better as at least I know it's part of the gameplay. Through it is annoying to lose me highest level healer for a couple of week!

honestly them dissappearing from the roster was actually better cause it let you cheat out the cap on heroes you could carry as it would actually count it down when they left and if you hired to the max they would still come back and you would have that plus one unit!!!

It's much better than what it used to be ... which was the hero in question disappearing from the roster, and reappearing at the very top, next week.
I didn't mind them disappearing, but messing up my roster order was not cool. I sorted them by region expertise and such.

I imagine that's probably why they changed it.
