Is the Tutorial Chest always trapped?
So I get it's called "Trapped Bandits Chest" and the description says "Seems out of place" (or something like that) is it always trapped, or does the trap have a chance of not going off? It seems kind of odd to put a useless chest at the end that can't really do much (You've already won so a little blight or bleed isnt gonna do anything to you)

I think it's probably a game mechanic to immediately show the player to be cautious about opening random stuff they find in the world. I had to learn that hard lesson after touching everything on my first Ruins expedition and getting horrible stress, debuffs, and negative quirks as a result lol.

As far as I can tell it's always trapped yes, and since it's a tutorial I imagine it's purpose is to teach you that not everything is always safe to pillage!

well, alternatively you could disarm or disinfect the cheat especially if it stated trapped or locked chest. For the case of tutorial chest, u need to use antivenom on it on if you managed to loot an antivenom during the run.

highly recommended to read up on the curio guide on steam. Its the best way of getting something profitable during each run.

That chest is always trapped to teach the new players two valuable lessons:
  1. Read the curio descriptions
  2. For the love of god, don't touch everything you see

Ya, I usually avoid cabinets (Unless I have a key) and animal corpses / human corpses cause more often than not I get something negative from it
I actually got a key as a reward for defeating the second encounter and it worked on the chest. Got 3 trinkets. But this is a highly unlikely event that caused me to find this forum to begin with.

Smash them! Smash the cabinets with your shovel and season that carrion with herbs to make it DELICIOUS!

I always open the chest. No matter the consequences. One day, one fateful day, when the stars align and lapse in the skies, it will open...

... and the truth will be revealed: It was the gate to the Darkest Dungeon all along

Same here.

Once, I found some common trinkets inside (probably a very rare event):
1 x "Book of Intuition"
2 x "Survival Guide"

The guy who opened it still got blighted, but who cares?

Slightly off-topic, but I always found this so super weird... So you can smash a glass cabinet with a shovel, but not with a mace, club, gunshot, unlit torch or pickaxe?

It's alwaya trapped.

Sometimes you get lucky and find a key before that point. Usually not.
