Potential Fix for the APPCRASH crashes!
It was a very simple yet strange fix as well. I'm hoping many of you have the same problem that I did so you can get a fix.

I was messing around with the files in my steam folder and in a last ditch effort to try and troubleshoot my crashes I installed the game on my brothers desktop and copied the whole game folder onto a flashdrive and plugged it into my computer.

I ran Darkest.exe from the flashdrive and VERY MUCH to my surprise it ran the game and for the first time on my desktop I saw the redhook logo and proceeded to watch the opening cinematic.

So right there I had an answer, well somewhere. I opened both folders (the flashdrive folder, and my steamApps folder) side by side to try and discover what is so different about them.

Turns out my version of Darkest Dungeon had 17 more files in the whole game folder than the flashdrive folder did. All 17 of these files were duplicated of files that already existed somewhere else in the directory. So for whatever reason Steam decided to download duplicate files on my desktop but not my brothers.

The following files are the 17 extra files that I deleted and are what made my game run. I have no idea which of the individual files caused me to get APPCRASH in the first place, but removing them all (keep in mind they are all duplicate files of files located elsewhere in the directory)

pin (file), steam_appid.txt (Text Document), svn_revision.tmpl (TMPL File), svn_revision.txt (Text Document)

the above 4 files were found in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DarkestDungeon\_windows" directory.

fmod.dll (Application extension), fmodL.dll (Application extension), fmodstudio.dll (Application extension), fmodstudioL.dll (Application extension), libcurl.dll (Application extension), libeay32.dll (Application extension), msvcp120.dll (Application extension), msvcr120.dll (Application extension), SDL2.dll (Application extension), SDL2_d.dll (Application extension), ssleay32.dll (Application extension), steam_api.dll (Application extension), vccorlib120.dll (Application extension)

The above 13 files were found in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DarkestDungeon" directory.

If you have any questions about anything here I'd be glad to help.
