Are medicinal herbs only for curios?

Are medicinal herbs used for anything other than interacting with some curios? It's description says it's used to cure diseases and maladies, but it can't be used to cure diseases, and blight is covered by antivenom.

You can use it on the Iron Maiden.

That's one of the curios, yes. It also helps on carts of infected meat, dead carcasses, and alchemy tables. I'm wondering if it's like they key and holy water in that regard or if... y'know, it was supposed to heal diseases, like it's item description kinda indicates.

Currently I don't think Disease is even enabled as a status effect. Or at least I haven't gotten it once so far.

There are negative quirks that are technically diseases, like Rabies and Syphilis. I had assumed that was what the game meant by disease, but it's unclear. Medicinal Herbs do seem to be useful only for curios, though.
