Darkest Dungeon®

Vezi statistici:
Disarming curios - dungeon interactive objects
I know the Devs wanted people to find out which objects affect which curios through experimenting, but I think that a little help may come in handy.

I intend to post what I know and I ask everyone to join in.

To make it easier I intend to edit this post when someone provides some new info. I will, however, include posters credits.

Unconfirmed solutions will be labeled (?). The same goes for curios which come from an unspecified dungeon

One important thing. Please, be as specific as possible when giving the name of curios because there are many which have similar names. Also state which dungeon it can be found in.

For those who wish to experiment on their own: SPOILERS AHEAD

Edited: Garamoth - thanks for pointing out my mistake.

Edited: According to silencer4 Barbaric Wall can only be used by Hellion. If it's true it may mean there are some class-specific interactions with some curios. For example only educated characters can read books or something like that. Thoughts?

Edited: Special thanks to yajiu who has done wonderflul job testing various options and posting the results. Thank you, kind sir!

Edited: According to HenryGuy holy/religious based characters like the Crusader seem to always get a buff from the holy altar or statues without need for an item use.

Love to see this kind of community support - keep it up!

Shovel works on Weald graves, Holy water purifies confession booths in the ruins.

I think you inverted the Weald and the Warrens, btw.

Would any of you say that it's totally worth bringing these expensive items along? I mean I usually just ignore most things that don't require a key as its the only item I buy besides provisions and still average abouut 8-12k a dungeon run. Short dungeons usually give me 6-9k+ so unless I'm missing out on a ton of heirlooms then I usually just try to keep runs as cheap as possible.

I've gotten 12 crests+2k+ gold worth of stuff from a locked chest before, so probably.

Well I always buy keys, I meant more so like, holy water for the confessional, or a shovel for the grave.

Oh and taking a torch to a stack of books in the ruins resulted in a whopping 52 loss of sanity. Burning books is VERY bad for the noggin. I wonder if anything good ever comes out of doing that?

Just to clarify, burning books increases stress by 52?
Garamoth 2 febr. 2015 la 13:41
That's what happened in that case, haven't tried it again, for obvious reasons.

I also have a feeling 52 was the amount of stress needed for my guy to reach his max of 100, so you could probably lose even more.

I've gotten 70-some stress burning books with a plague doctor -- I wonder if anyone can have a positive result?
Garamoth 2 febr. 2015 la 13:47
Lol, eldritch horrors vomiting unspeakable, writhing substances on you, that's like 10 stress, but burning books is CRAAAAZY! That's what the Nazis would do.

I bet it was just a stack of chick lit and old Times magazines anyway.
You should be bringing along a shovel or two anyway (more in the Weald). Enough stuff takes holy water that it's not a huge risk to bring one or two. In any case, you're going to be picking some items up in the dungeon itself, so you might as well use them.

Ruins - Holy Fountain - Holy Water - Heal/Stress Reduction

Ruins - Locked Display Case - Shovel

Ruins - Locked Sarcophagus - Skeleton Key or Shovel (destroys some of the contents)

Ruins - Holy Water + Confession Booth has decreased Stress by 30 for both Leper and Vestal.

Breaks open and gets stuff. I'm not sure if it gets you less than if you just use a key.

Torch and Holy Water did nothing to a Bookcase. Antivenom did nothing to Iron Maiden.

Weald - Mummified Remains - Bandage

Weald - Ancient Coffin - ???
I can tell you that Shovel, Antivenom, Medicinal Herbs, Bandages, and Torch did nothing.

Weald - Chirurgeon's Satchel - It appears to be a quest pick-up with a use command but the items attempted had no effect.

Weald - Beast Carcass - Medicinal Herbs - in 4 attempts this has given only food in all but one attempt. So there is a low chance of receiving a small amounts of Deeds/Crests (2 Deeds, 10 Food).

Weald - Old Tree - Antivenom - Loot

Weald - Eerie Spiderweb - Bandages - Loot

Weald - Troubling Effigy - Holy Water - Gained a Positive Quirk

Warrens - Occult Markings - Holy Water - Gave a Debuff

Warrens - Occult Scrawlings (could be the same one) - used nothing with Occultist - Gave a positive Quirk

Warrens - Pile of Scrolls - Torch - Purged a Negative Quirk (text was bugged to "love_interest")

Warrens - Eldritch Altar - Torch - Buff

Warrens - Rack of Blades - Bandage - Loot

I haven't seen the Barbaric Wall so far (mostly just powering through the Weald), but I felt like Occultist had more interactions (positive and negative) with books. It might just have been a random thing though.

With the Heirloom Chest it's notable that using a Skeleton Key you get additional loot, but you don't have to use it to get some.

If you burn the stack of books it has (so far) ALWAYS driven the character insane. +83 Stress on a Crusader.

Ruins - Locked Display Case - Shovel
I'm using a key

Ruins:
Alchemy Lab + Torch = Full Light
Urn + Holy Water = Loot.

Warrens
Moonshine something + herbs = Buff

Barbaric wall (or something) + Hellion - I think it should be used only by her - Buffs or Negative quirks removed.

Weald:

Effigy + ??? = ???
Spider Web + ??? (maybe holy water) = ???

Also I know that you can burn books, but I think every characters gets massive stress penalty of guilt.
