Fluff: My Dismas this run needs to go to the hospital
It is pretty funny: I'm currently at week 10 and Dismas got 4-5 diseases from the post mission screen, every time I used him except the "Old road" mission. Only one other hero got a disease from the post mission screen a single time.
He always has between 0-20 stress at the end of the mission. Even when my other heroes all had 80-100 stress, Dismas is the one with the disease.
I don't mind as my run is going well otherwise, but I just wanted to share this funny piece of RNG. It is as if he has a 100% to get diseases post mission and instead all other heroes have 0% chance to get diseases post mission if he is present.

You should rename him to Diseasemas.

It's a good way to learn that removing diseases at camp is often more efficient than the Sanitarium, given camping skills can remove ALL diseases at once, whereas heading to the Sanitarium costs gold and may only remove one.

I don't mind scenarios like the above seeing as you start with the Usual Suspects by default, so unless your PD dies (and you don't find another, or a Grave Robber, etc), you can wipe diseases off the map with The Cure, Snuffbox, and so forth. Sucks to lose respite doing so, but I guess you can't have everything.

Conversely, you can only (apparently) acquire diseases on heroes at Resolve 2 and above. It's not something I watch out for, but I don't tend to catch many (if any) diseases before erring towards Veteran dungeons.

Given that Diseases are much less expensive to cure (than quirks), I tend not to worry about it too much. Expand your Roster, run an Antiquarian or two. Occasional trips to the doctor become trivial.

Or like RopeDrink said, use the PD's camping skills.

For me, it's less about the cost and more about shoving heroes in a cell for a week -- or more, if they have multiple diseases and the Sanitarium decides to go one-by-one -- as opposed to taking them along for the ride and wiping all disease(s) yourself, especially if you really want that particular hero for X or Y dungeon that very week for some specific reason.

Mm, yeah I suppose. I tend to have multiples of any character I like, but ... there are quirks to consider too, so yeah, point taken.

Reminds me of that time where I dismissed a Arbalest because she kept going crazy in dungeon no matter how high much I spent on maintenance on her. She would constantly clutch the pearl and go into crisis mode and stress everyone out, steal loot, touching every trap in the hallway and get everyone hurt or poisoned, even attack allies in the middle of a mortal kombat while shouting profanities.

I would be spend several weeks just de-stressing and rehabilitating her giving her another chance and the very next time I brought her into the dungeon same stuff happens again. We either finish the run with all 4 members needing medical or spiritual attention for a few weeks, or I had to abandon the run early because otherwise the whole team would die because of her.

Eventually I just got back into town and told her to f off.

Meanwhile my household name is held up by my Occultist, who GOAT'ed and went virtuous multiple times already and carried the team through the bleakest of scenarios. Now that's a bloody good fella. Oh, he's got a gambling problem and prefer not getting too close to the dice table? No worries mate, you drink for free! And of course, rarest and shiniest trinkets, just for you!
