He could have turned evil and is now drawing you into the Darkest Dungeon making you think it's what you must do to save the manor but when you get there he'll turn on you.
So many possibilities.
And you are the Heir, watching your heroes' progress and you just CANT get your ancestor's voice out of your head. I don't think he's narrating as much as he is haunting your every move with either encouraging, warning or taunting words.
Actually we know for sure he's dead. One of the things he says is "I remember their angry faces coming up the stairs.....But I was already dead....And the letter was on it's way". Also, in the opening cutscean, at the end it's heavily implied that he commited suicide, unable to live with the results of his frenzied digging.
That being said, considering there's so much paranormal stuff going on, it could be he's now a disembodied spirit.
well "ghost" is sort of a loose term here. It all depends on how you define it. Also, if he (not they because as far as I can tell there is only one family member involved in this whole thing) is imprisoned, how would he becommunicating with us?
Why does he now have this ability as a disembodied entity? Also I'm pretty sure the eldritch powers he released would be able to prevent him from communicating at all with the outside world if they imprisoned him.
I'm just giving my opinion dude. I'm wrong 9/10 times regardless of what it is so it wouldn't surprise me if I was wrong here as well.
Would you say it's a....GAME THEORY?
Given his 'morbid genius' for necromancy, he might have found a way to re-animate himself.
