The DOOM movie does it IMO.

DOOM? Lol, no. Watch John Carpenter's "In the Mouth Of Madness". It's the only Lovecraftian movie done right.

I suppose you could also check out Carpenter's "Prince of Darkness" and "Event Horizon"

I can attest that Event Horizon's a pretty flawed, but very fun movie nonetheless. In the similar vein, Hellraiser might work as well. Although I'd argue neither of these really have that gothic vibe and feel of Darkest Dungeon.

I think your best bet if you want to evoke the same feeling as the game, is to read, or listen to some Audiobooks by Lovecraft himself. The narrator in the game, Wayne June has even read a few himself!

If you are looking for small band of misfit warriors vs the supernatural, you could try "Dog Soldiers". It's a bit of a lark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_0Ej5N-hFQ

Or the 1982 version of "The Thing." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7t-919Ec9U

"In the Mouth of Madness" is a good attempt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PFcOeM_Usk

There is also the low-mid budget film "Dagon", which is a loose adaptation of "The Shadow Over Insmouth" (ie the upcoming inspiration for the COVE level). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yAnVNy27co

Dagon was directed by Stuart Gordon who adapted a number of Lovecraft's short stories into films. Not all of them capture the essence of the Lovecraftian world, but there is an episode of the Masters of Horror series called: Welcome to the Dreamhouse, that manages to create a sense of Lovecraftian horror.

Other Lovecraftian adaptations by Stuart Gordon are; Re-Animator, From Beyond and Castle Freak.

I'm going by memory here, but one film I seem to recall does capture the feel of a Lovecraftian underworld is House - a horror comedy directed by Steve Miner (1986).

If I think of any others, I'll let you know.

Aye, I'd recommend The Strain for a modern twist on the Darkest Dungeon experience.
Small band of flawed warriors? check! Horde of monsters? check! Big BAD? check!

Although it has nothing to do with Lovecraft, the film "Cube" captures the claustrophobia and the danger lunking behind every corner feeling pretty well.

c'mon, the strain is horrible, the classic fox serie full of lame clichè...
the mist is a nice movie about the stephen king's mist that is noice cuz stephen loved Lovecraft and also the thing of carpenter is in that theme and is one of the most amazing horror movie ever, also the cabin in the wood is one of the few good horror movie made recently and has a lovecraft theme, but nothing for now can represent Lovecraft in movies, he is just one of the best writing of the american litterature (also cuz american litterature sucks)

I'm waiting for OP to come back and say he's seen all these movies. I will acccept nothing less.

You better have been downloading, OP.

You could also throw in Hellboy 1 & 2 - Small squad (Hellboy, Liz, Abe & Myers or Johann), vs evil sorcerors, occultists, magical creature and Lovecraftian nightmares... Small chance of success.
Also, now I think about it, lots of "trinkets" for bonuses fighting the monsters and "witty" banter/barks from characters... Different encounter locals, Museum, Sewers, Crypts.

I actually thought exactly opposite. For me Mist is a boring movie with plot twists that has been seen many times before and even done better. I really loved Strain and thought it had unique atmosphere I always craved but never seen. If you say it's full of cliche, could you recommend me movies with such cliches?

The strain is full of characters without a psychological presence or at least the classic "the mexican that is a bad guy just because he is poor but still good cuz love his mother", "the old man that fought this evil before losing (for use a dramatical effect) the woman that he had loved and he is badass and can defend himself from bad guys cuz he was a hero", "a fat guy who does the autopsy that die" (like in every movie or series like this), "the stupid father who think that his son is still alive and lies to the police just cuz he is stupid and he dies like he deserve)... it is full of this type of characters....
the theme is the classical "fox horror serie" theme, there is just a lil'theme of Del Toro movies but it is not enough for me...

Another fairly good movie would be "Dog Soldiers."
Small band of scottish soldiers ambushed by monsters then having to use their wits to survive.

Regarding the Strain, The OP asked for movies/shows that channels the DD vibe. Flawed characters, terrible monsters, cynical world...practically a modern-day DD.
Not to mention everyone has their own tastes, if I and several others enjoy these supposed "cliche" shows, its our choice to recommend it to the OP in the chance he/she might enjoy it as well!

Also, while thinking about it, SOLOMON KANE has a very Darkest Dungeon atmosphere...
