What did they expect when coming in, some Disneyland theme park? Of course i'm angry that they are hungry!
EDIT: There is a possibility, that as they got hunger in first corridor, they might be hungry again in another corridor. Camping also does not prevent this event (what a rhyme).
I am not 100% sure but a disease ''tapeworm'' might also increase the chance of this event. Some quirks related to food might also do the trick, but as I said I am not sure about it.
This. The biggest offender when it comes to hunger are dungeons that require you to backtrack in order to fully explore (eg. 90% of rooms). Walking back through already explored corridoors is more likely to cause a hunger dialogue than unexplored coridoors are. I do not use food to heal unless a fight ends with a character on deaths door and/or severely DoT'd on very low health (with no bandages/anti-venom). In small dungeons I take 8 food (2 hunger events). Occasionally a third 'might' happen but by then I've usually done 90% of the dungeon and can take that risk. For medium I take 20 as they are more likely to involve backtracking. 20 food = 1 x camp (8) and 3 x event (12). You usually get to loot more in this situation anyway. I don't do too many large dungeons.
The thing is though that having 1 person eat 1 food to delay the hunger event for the entire party would be easily exploitable if the 'digestion counter' was too long. And if it's short then it might as well not even be in the game anyways.
The hunger event is not an issue, when you know how to deal with it. Apart from taking decent amount of food, remember to take some medical herbs with you, if you venture into Weald, Warrens or Cove. In these dungeons, there are curios, that if cleansed with medical herbs, will give you free food.
Warrens - Feast Table, Carrige with bodies
Weald - Carcass
Cove - Dead fish
Warren's curios are generous with meals, while Coves's dead fish in not alwaya a guarantee - it can also give you gems, money etc. With my advice, running even long missions is not an problem, besides any additional food can be used also as a healing item after the battle.
So far most of the problem with starvation I had only in ruins, since there are no curios, that offer food for proper cleansing.
