Do I lose access to anything if I disable corpses?

You pretty much made one of the Leper's attacks to be useless. The other corpse clear attacks are ok on their own merits.

You can't get the achievement for finishing the game on default, if you do. Whether or no that matters to you, is, of course, up to you.

I just remember playing this in EA when corpses weren't present, and I liked that more. But I don't want to disable if I lose access to anything (even if just an achievement).

I actually disliked it more when the corpses all had a generic image. Now that they're all dead versions of the actual monster, I kind of like 'em.

I dislike the mechanic.

A lot of ranged skills will become useless after only a round or two of combat.

This, I remember feeling how stupid my Crusader must have felt once all the Backrow Enemies were dead when he was setted up for that Holy Lance.

You'll probably gimp quite a few characters / skills / party compositions.

Me too. Not to get into an argument about whether corpses should be in the game at all, but yes, you can disable them if you don't mind forfeiting an achievement. They're also hard-enabled in NG+ from what I understand.

No, you just gain irl sanity and are playing the game as it should be.

Of course, you miss the achievement, but who cares. You should gain a common sense achievement in its place.

Self Respect?

You'll make some battles quite a bit harder if you turn corpses off, IMHO. There are several enemies with position-sensitive attacks that can get quite missed up if a corpse is in the way. Fungal shamblers, for example, have a very weak attack if they are in row 3/4 that moves them 1 step forward. If there's two shamblers with a corpse in front of them, then at worst, one of the shamblers will always be forced to use its weak attack and switch places with the one in rank 2. If the speed rolls in your favour, both of them will end up using their weak attacks. Without the corpse, both shamblers would be in the front row dealing full damage every turn.

Corpses keep ranged attackers and position-altering skills relevant. Even if you hate them, it seems as though half the time I kill enemies with bleed or blight anyway so there are no corpses to worry about even without actually turning them off. I definitely feel like all heroes and skills are more consistently useful with corpses in the game, and enjoy playing more because of that.

To answer the question though, you miss out on the achievement if you disable any of the optional mechanics, including corpses.

corpses have helped me out via positioning more than anything. turning them off (didnt even know that was an option) seems like it'd screw way to many skill mechanics

my opinion, after some rounds with it turned off:

i found it great to turn off at the early stage of the game, but once you are playing at higher dungeons, well... its better to get them on again
