See if you have any trinkets you can deem worthless and sell them. Do a run with level 0 heroes, no supplies besides food(or without that even if you really have no funds) as that is the supply that gets the most value for cost the next being shovels. If you can't complete a run under these conditions make sure to retreat, you'll still keep all the stuff you got till now. But really on a normal short dungeon there should be no reason to lose even with level 0 heroes, no trinkets, and no supplies. Running dark means you'll get more drops and you can just dump heros that get too stressed.

Take 4 new heroes for gold runs.
Just dont buy torches or food (maybe 4 if wish, but better any).
Throw them into a dungeon unequipped and try to reach as far as you can. Remember that with no torches, they wont stay long, but they make more gold and loot.

So try to advance, and risk (you lose anything, so you arent really risking at all), and retire from dungeon when one of them turns mad or die or when you know there is no chance to win next battle.

Then dismiss them, pick another 4 and repeat.

Who knows, maybe sometimes you will be surprised enough to see one of them leveling and turning into the real heroe.

And if not, who cares? Low level heroes are expendable :) Use them to make money before risking the leveled ones; they will need supplies and the gold for that.

Pretty much the above mentioned: suicide runs of fresh lvl 0 mercenaries with as few supplies as possible or none at all, then complete if you can or retreat with whatever you may have scrapped.

Repeat until you recover. Discard the highly stressed / unusable ones and bring new ones at no cost.

As a side note, I would only use stress relief in a high level hero or one with nice perks. Or if I only have one of that class (for example if I need a leveled healer or that).

really? Farming? That is beyond stupid. my opinions of this game has just gone way way down.
Complex Jan 20, 2016 @ 3:25pm
I wouldn't really call it farming as it does kind of require thought as to what party composition you are going to bring and how to deal with situations you are not prepared for adequately. If anything it is a refreshing change of pace from the perfectly planned out runs. Sure you could just go in mindlessly and farm... but then you'd have to retreat instead of completing the run and you'd spend way more time getting resources.

First off, I don't recommend using the abbey/tavern for reducing stress almost ever unless you're just impatient and don't mind wasting money (this should not be the case if you're asking this question of course) or the character is afflicted. Characters will reduce in stress on their own over time even if slowly - you don't need to spend money on it, and you can just send your other characters on dungeons while their stress goes down (you should be raising a large roster regardless for numerous reasons). I recommend getting the roster size upgrades pretty quickly on that note - by the time your roster size is maxed out you shouldn't really need to use the tavern/abbey at all in my experience (heck, I even kept some characters with quirks that prevented them from going anywhere for stress relief and got them to level 6).

Beyond that, it's mostly the same as has been mentioned already. Sell trinkets if you have any you don't expect to use, and if you *really* can't afford any supplies at all then bring your most expendable characters (presumably level 0s) on a short dungeon and just try to win without any supplies - if you have to you can even abandon the quest before finishing it to just get some loot to afford supplies for a better run.

Or start new game and try to think more before wasting gold on useless heroes, try to survive battles playing well, etc.

This game is not for all people I would say. Some guys buy it before learning how it is.

Use disposable heroes for a quick cash grab. Also, check before sewnding heroes to taber/church/sanitarium how much have you invested in them vs. the cost. Resolution 0 and 1 heroes are usually disposable or not worth investing IMO.

Who knows, maybe sometimes you will be surprised enough to see one of them leveling and turning into the real heroe.

This just happened to me today:
Sent 4 poor souls to their deaths and they came back singing.
Sent them again, with barely a few provisions, and the accumulated stress for both runs was around the 20s.
Now they are my favourite group since a long time, so I send them to a long run to the Weald but very well provisioned. Except I forgot to buy torches. They came back again with even less stress than before... They are bloody heroes!

I think I had shunned the Jester too much during EA and now I am rediscovering him. This group is a Graverobber, Jester, Abomination, Hellion party. I have to see how well they work in veteran dungeons but so far I am pleasantly surprised with the Jester inclusion.

This is awesome dude. This game rocks and that is one of the nice feelings, when that happen.

And you can also use these moments to try new tactics and combinations that you dont want to try with your high level heroes. You can discover awesome things while testing with lower ones.
Nequis Jan 20, 2016 @ 3:39pm
When you have no money you dump your girlfriend, not heroes. As obvious as that.
SrMandril Jan 20, 2016 @ 3:42pm
You mean "when you have no money your girlfriend dumps you", right? Right?

It certainly is a great opportunity to try a new game to try new strategies and teams, but I am hesitant whether I should start one or if I should wait until the "real full release" with the Merchant and the Town Events.

I wish a Town Event was: A merchant of books came to the hamlet, and some of your heroes bought some to read.

-2000 Gold, now all the customers have syphilis

Ha!

I am a bit sad that that town events didn't make it in for release. But hopefully they'll be out soon.
