Virtue build
Are they worth it? I have a crusader I can build with holy orders that give a huge virtue chance as well as a hero's ring, top that with irrepressible quirk, yet its still luck because should he not be courageous the entire run is a bust.

In theory, the Crusader is best for a Virtue build because he has trinkets that boost Virtue chance. If the check fails, he also has a camping ability that recovers a whopping 40 stress and can perform a stress heal in combat. Getting him back to 0 should cure the Affliction.

It just seems risky for long dungeon runs when their are better camp skills etc.

For me Virtue builds are not worth it. A virtue only lasts for the duration of the mission and its not worth risking an affliction or a possible heart attack.

In all my runs I've only been able to get an afflicted person down to 0 stress two times. You have sacrifice a bunch of terms to destress one character during a camp, you give up buffs that make the missions easier and if the character has the wrong affliction (like paranoid) they might ignore in battle and/or in camp stress reducers.

But its so badass having a courageous crusader smiting those filthy swine :(

I avoid having my characters get anywhere near 30 stress. To me the risk isn't worth the reward when I can do fine without it.

While this is true, but more times than not I get a Fearful Leper that slowly slinks to the rear and becomes useless or a Masochistic Vestal bravely marching to the front and sacrificing her healing skills.

wow how do you keep it under 30? Those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Tempting Goblets, Madmen, and Evil Enchantresses really mess my guys up, they always dogpile on one person then an unlucky crit can push 'em over the edge before second round is done.

I think about playing a build like this sometimes. Courageous Abominations are the greatest thing. When that happens, it virtually negates all stress hits your team takes during beast mode. The Abomination howls every time his turn comes up to inspire the team and it is awesome.

Well, there's a reason I started with "In theory..."

What I recently found was that if a hero rolls virtuous, next time he/she reaches 100 affliction he/she will have a better chance to roll for the same result.

You COULD try stacking virtue-trinkets on a Crusader that went virtuous before in order to give your gamble an extra boost.

I think it's not the chance to roll virtue. It's a chance to get the SAME virtue/affliction. I've kept records for my heroes and indeed, they tend to develop 1-2 virtues (rarely 3) and 2-3 afflictions (rarely 1 or 4), getting them over and over again.

Never, stack stress reduce,it's never a good idea to build towards a RNG roll that might stop you in the tracks if it fails.
