The infection is really to get you get you back in and take it seriously. Every time you kill a court boss, the infection is fully wiped out and you can start again as at the beginning. All having the court really means is that you'll need to supply blood to the infected weekly. If you find blood vials, just be sure to collect it. That's really it. One of this districts will even make it for you if you want.
Edit
There's just as much lore as there was before - it's basically just another story about the Ancestor and a guest that he had over. It has some new music and new challenges. I think it just gets hate because it's just different. I think it's great fun. It's just this time, you're playing through 3 gigantic mazes you leave and return to (same spot). The maps are always the same. You basically just fill it out and beat the boss. That's really it. And of course it's hard. That's the name of the game. Lol
so you are saying that if I use the mod to lower the infection rate to 0 I get these bug messages? or that if I leave crimson court enabled and just ignore it till the end I will get them?
That's all I can remember
It probably won't affect the bugs. The bug event doesn't cause infection. It just lowers stress relief if the court is enabled. It's just a prod to get you to go in there and set the hives on fire. Then the fun begins.
Most Crimson Court complaints hinge on people diving straight in as soon as possible - mostly because of that near-weekly stress-reducing popup trying to coax you - resulting in a rolling snowball of mechanics that blind players are not prepared to stay ahead of.
However, you can simply ignore that first mission to your heart's content, and go in whenever you feel good and ready. Just like every other dungeon, it is best to do Apprentice at level 2, Veteran at level 4, and Champion at level 6 whenever possible, unless there is no other choice. Simply apply that to your roster (instead of individual teams) when dealing with the DLC as a whole. Roster almost pushing into Veteran? Then your barracks is ready to open the gates. Roster on the verge of Champion? Then your barracks are better prepared for the next main-court mission. So on, so forth.
Like the Darkest Dungeons themselves, the (large) main campaign missions are 100% preset - not random. Thus, unchanging, they are learnable. Meanwhile, 'unlike' the Darkest Dungeons, you can leave mid-way through those huge court missions whenever you feel like it and return later with your progress intact, provided you have acquired an 'invitation' (essentially a 'key' to let you back in).
With experience, you can best those humungous maps in one single sitting without leaving at all, and good play will ensure your roster remains uninfected for as long as possible, so you only (technically) need one invite per mission and to be a little more careful when dealing with roaming bloodsuckers after the gates have opened and the infestation is rising.
Just like vanilla, knowledge and hindsight are the main door to success. It's up to you whether you want to learn how to beat it at its own game - or dilute it with mods instead.
If you haven't finished the base game I'd advice to do that first without the dlc's.
Personally I always use this because while i love cc, it starting so early was always a little bit annoying to me.
Could I not simply play on my save with the crimson court region and enemies disabled (through in game dlc management options) and then simply enable it when I feel ready? That way I don’t have to deal with any of the crimson court town events meant to bait you in. So far I have been playing with it off and I’m wondering if it would break it to turn it on late in my game
