Should I play crimson court with blood infection disabled mod or with crimson court disabled entirely?
Recently I abandoned my first save and started a modded game because I wanted to get the On the Old Road We Found Redemption achievement. I got the crimson court dlc for cheap but from the reviews the blood infection doesn't seem worth it. I found a mod to disable just the infection mechanic or I could disable the crimson court enemies and dungeon in the dlc options but keep the flagellant and district. Which should I do? I have like 50 hours in the game so I'm not exactly a noob but i heard that dungeon was hard even without the blood curse. Is it enjoyable to play? are there cool lore tidbits?

You should keep infection on for the full experience.. but if you really want to go in as powerful as possible, you can literally turn it on just as you finish the vanilla game and play from there. If you WANT to play with it off and just use the character and districts, you can do that, too. If you know you want to play with it, you can leave everything on, but you'll get a lot of events about bugs lowering your stress relief. It's a minor annoyance and it won't hurt you. Just be aware as soon as you go into the court, it activates everything.

The infection is really to get you get you back in and take it seriously. Every time you kill a court boss, the infection is fully wiped out and you can start again as at the beginning. All having the court really means is that you'll need to supply blood to the infected weekly. If you find blood vials, just be sure to collect it. That's really it. One of this districts will even make it for you if you want.

Edit

There's just as much lore as there was before - it's basically just another story about the Ancestor and a guest that he had over. It has some new music and new challenges. I think it just gets hate because it's just different. I think it's great fun. It's just this time, you're playing through 3 gigantic mazes you leave and return to (same spot). The maps are always the same. You basically just fill it out and beat the boss. That's really it. And of course it's hard. That's the name of the game. Lol

so you are saying that if I use the mod to lower the infection rate to 0 I get these bug messages? or that if I leave crimson court enabled and just ignore it till the end I will get them?

The infection just means your characters can become vampires and need to drink every few days. Also, if an infected person is using the facilities, the infection in that place will slowly build up, threatening to infect others that use the facilities. It will warn on the side the chances of infection are high.

That's all I can remember

It probably won't affect the bugs. The bug event doesn't cause infection. It just lowers stress relief if the court is enabled. It's just a prod to get you to go in there and set the hives on fire. Then the fun begins.

Leave it enabled, but don't open the gates via the first mission until your roster is on the verge of hitting level 3 (Veteran). As in, just ignore those popups and carry on. Apart from slightly reducing the stress of respite facilities - which good players rarely use anyway - it's not doing you any lasting harm, so don't be baited.

Most Crimson Court complaints hinge on people diving straight in as soon as possible - mostly because of that near-weekly stress-reducing popup trying to coax you - resulting in a rolling snowball of mechanics that blind players are not prepared to stay ahead of.

However, you can simply ignore that first mission to your heart's content, and go in whenever you feel good and ready. Just like every other dungeon, it is best to do Apprentice at level 2, Veteran at level 4, and Champion at level 6 whenever possible, unless there is no other choice. Simply apply that to your roster (instead of individual teams) when dealing with the DLC as a whole. Roster almost pushing into Veteran? Then your barracks is ready to open the gates. Roster on the verge of Champion? Then your barracks are better prepared for the next main-court mission. So on, so forth.

Like the Darkest Dungeons themselves, the (large) main campaign missions are 100% preset - not random. Thus, unchanging, they are learnable. Meanwhile, 'unlike' the Darkest Dungeons, you can leave mid-way through those huge court missions whenever you feel like it and return later with your progress intact, provided you have acquired an 'invitation' (essentially a 'key' to let you back in).

With experience, you can best those humungous maps in one single sitting without leaving at all, and good play will ensure your roster remains uninfected for as long as possible, so you only (technically) need one invite per mission and to be a little more careful when dealing with roaming bloodsuckers after the gates have opened and the infestation is rising.

Just like vanilla, knowledge and hindsight are the main door to success. It's up to you whether you want to learn how to beat it at its own game - or dilute it with mods instead.

You do you. If it's not fun, don't listen to others tell you it is. Develop your own independence, by exercising it.

Since you are asking for opinion I say no. it's intended to be difficult and part of the experience.
If you haven't finished the base game I'd advice to do that first without the dlc's.

My recommendation if you reaaally want an easier time dealing with crimson court, just use the delayed crimson court introduction mod, it makes it so the event occurs at i think week 10. By then you should have a modestly good stock of characters and a pretty alright nest of resources or upgrades to get you through the rougher parts of the early game.

Personally I always use this because while i love cc, it starting so early was always a little bit annoying to me.

Could I not simply play on my save with the crimson court region and enemies disabled (through in game dlc management options) and then simply enable it when I feel ready? That way I don’t have to deal with any of the crimson court town events meant to bait you in. So far I have been playing with it off and I’m wondering if it would break it to turn it on late in my game

No sir, it won't break anything if you flick it on in the endgame.
