How many heroes have YOU lost?
I'm still a little wet behind the ears with this game, and I'm not afraid to admit it. Practice and a few disastrous failures of expeditions have tempered my understanding of the game greatly, but I still can't help feel a tad... inadequate. It took forty two deaths before I finally got to the point where I could mitigate things effectively. I understand that it's my first playthrough and a few deaths are to be expected, but I can't help but feel that my graveyard's more crowded than it ought to be.

How about you guys? How well did your first runs go?

42? Wow, going for the record I see :D
I think my 1st playthrough it was 4 or 5 (due to being greedy as ♥♥♥♥ in the long dungs).

In 92 hours a total of 6 heroes or so.

41 hours in, I have lost about 20, but most of them were early on where i threw them away left and right stacking up funds, since i did not spend any funds on upgrading heroes until my hamlet was decently upgraded.

The only hero i lost that was of value was a level 4 Arbalest, but I have a level 6 Arbalest now so all is good.

I have lost no heroes, ever. :steamhappy:

there were a few pathetic puling wretches that couldn't pull their weight :steamfacepalm: maybe a few of them died but who cares about them :steamfacepalm:

more seriously though it's a game who cares what other people did, just enjoy yourself, if that means gleefully stacking corpses then by all means.

developers should maybe consider a building brick minigame in which you can build houses and things using corpses from the graveyard :steamhappy:

All these replies have left me greatly humbled... I'll resolve to minimize casualties in the next run.

In 200 hours I've lost 30, but that's probably because I only do dark runs.

7 heroes total during my first playtrough, and none during the NG+ one.

1 missing in action somewhere in the Darkest Dungeon.

2 fighting the Siren for the first time. She made Reynauld kill Dismas. I had to left him behind so they can be together for eternity.

4 against the Swine Prince. I was happy for the crit on that little guy hiding behind the boss before I saw what happened.

but now is time for real talk :steamfacepalm:

serious talk :steamfacepalm:

if you try to do things conservatively then you never stretch your limits :steamfacepalm:

playing things safe is not what man do. :steamfacepalm:

must adventure, must explore :steamhappy:

must suffer and die :steamfacepalm:

take bad with good, never risk bad, then never git gud :steamfacepalm:

to be man is mysterious thing :steamhappy:

learn, grow, make mistakes, those things go together. some make more mistakes than others but so what everyone's different :steamhappy:

so remember is not just liberal "everyone different and special it's ok ur ok im ok everyones ok lets all hold hands and dance around a tree" :steamhappy: no is serious talk is real talk, you make mistakes, get rekt, part of git gud, not to worry about few corpses :steamfacepalm: what? you not dead why so worried

I disagree.

Early early access: 1. Pre-release patch: 8 (broken mechanics since fixed on release). Final release: 12 (broken mechanics fixed, heroes all died to new changes)

I'm fine with the game getting harder and more complex, I like that. The game got more balanced overall, and much harder since early early access (a good thing). But a few of the re-worked enemies are a bit OP compared to the rest.

mr no death run :steamfacepalm:

some people have 99% genius and 1% effort, some have 99% effort and 1% genius.

some people just read guide, some people write guide. :steamhappy:

but if you never fail then probably you're just not trying hard enough.

(edit) -

that isn't just saying throw people in meat grinder either.

Right now my Bounty Hunter got Syphilis from a snail in Cove.

I can't handle this. It's too hard... to understand.

^ lol, you guys. it's just syphilis, relax.

As for me, i lost about 15 in my 1st playthrough in EA, 3 in my second playthrough (not counting the fifty-odd level 0's i sacrificed to suicidal dark runs AFTER beating the DD), & zero in my NG+ run so far (i'm on week 20, killed all apprentice bosses, have 24 level 3+ w/ almost 0 stress across the board, never had a resolve check, never abandoned a quest... so pretty much SpectralProphet levels of professionalism :rubiWink:)
