Come Unto Your Maker [SPOILERS]
So what does every character say when targeted by Come Unto Your Maker'?

I've found these from various sources:

Vestal: 'I-It's too horrible! Noooo!'
Bounty Hunter: '...hm.'

Highwayman: 'No way out. hmph. Let's do this.'
Arbalest: Please, no! I want to live!

Houndmaster: 'Steady, girl. If we're called, we answer.'
Hellion: 'Send me to hell then! AAAKYLORAAAHHH!'

Leper: 'Spare the others, I am ready.'
Grave Robber: 'A proper lady does not volunteer herself for slaughter!'

Man-at-arms: 'I go with a clear conscience. I've given my all.'
Occultist: 'Finally, the face of my tormentor. Come, then.'

But I'm missing lines for: Plague Doctor, Crusader, Abomination and Jester.
Anyone got the lines for those 4 they could share?

(PS I love how the Bounty Hunter just does not seem to give a ****.)

The ones with something to live for, are the ones afraid of death.

Now we need the Flagellant's line, he likely will die willingly.

Flagellant says "I've waited long for this! DON'T TAKE IT FROM ME!", so yes, he is very willing to die. Musketeer quotes Dumas and says "All for one, and one for all!"

Pretty badass, my favorite is still the Occultist, by far.

Yes, he looks to be cursed since that Egypt expedition. I suppose he has a debt to pay, in his set we can read somethin like "done deal"

Well, the Arbalest, according to her official backstory, was orphaned really young so she probably raised herself and had a though life, so I think it's kind of uncharacteristic of someone who lived alone for most of her life to just freak out like that. I dunno.

I mean yeah, you can put reasoning behind these sentences, but still, really known of the male characters show even a little bit of panic. Just resignation. Feels dumb.

Though to be honest, I think these final remarks should depend on the individuals' afflictions. Like if they got afflicted they say something cowardly, if they became virtuous they should say something heroic and if neither is true then just something neutral.
arb had a sad past and she did everything to stay alive day per day.... Shehad to face death since she was a kid and learnt to survive leave behind her house, family, town...
Wartdog 2017 年 8 月 7 日 下午 12:49
I mean let's be honest: you scrape, scrimp and save every day to live - your parent died so you could live, you survived the entire dungeon up until that point... and then your companions sacrifice you to the monster?

When many of them are old and dying, want to die, or deserve to die - they pick you? The archer girl who did pretty much zip to deserve all of this. Yeah you'd want to live!

As said, people are quick to mark will-to-live as cowardice when they're not the same things. It's a bit ironic calling them cowardly if THEY ARE IN YOUR TEAM AT THE FINAL BOSS OF THE FINAL DUNGEON. The only one that is harder to explain is the Vestal, though as mentioned before, she's got quite a few lines of a similar style throughout the campaign - not so much cowardly, just mostly aghast at the corruption (which is entirely expected of her).

Arb, GR and PD's are much easier explained by comparison, but being horrified at the concept of being fed to that monstrosity after all you've done to get there would be more horrifying to the sheltered (Ves) or those with higher upbringing (PD/GR), not so much the rough'n'tumble go-getters who probably expected to die or will willingfully sacrifice themselves out of some ties to their background (Lep/♥♥♥/Occ etc)

The Grave Robber's line can also be read in multiple ways. Depending on whether there, at the end of everything, She still considers herself a 'Proper Lady'.

There is a second meaning behind some of the characters freaking out and begging for mercy. Notice this characters are mostly backline. If you listen to them and spare them, chosing the frontline instead, you will most likely have no skills to use in front position. Notice how frontline classes are rather embracing player to kill them by their courage. I think this is yet another trickery, that is supposed to make you pay for being emotional and sparing the beggers. You need dedicated frontline classes to kill the final boss before it kills you.

The Graverobber's line is hardly cowardly

"A proper lady does not volunteer herself for slaughter!"

Meaning a proper noble woman would not willingly sacrifice herself for others. But the Graverobber has already shown time and again that she is no longer a "proper lady."

And this is what allows her to willingly sacrifice herself for the group and go into her death with dignity.
