Eldritch Slayer: A "must have" lock for endgame content?
I've been doing things a bit differently than in my previous campaigns, and am grooming heroes with desirable quirks right off the bat, locking them at level 0 or 1 and curing negative quirks at the same time, saving on weeks and doing trash runs in the meantime so that each groomed hero has a spin in the Sanitarium to prep. With a good bit of experience playing the game, grooming of quirks, proper trinkets, gear & skill upgrades and ample provisions, I'm not worried about losing these guys until Champion dungeons (maybe).

I finally expanded my roster to 25 slots, and while it leaves room for a few slots for throwaway heroes (should it come to that), it's not left me with much wiggle room. I'm now coming upon heroes with Eldritch Slayer right off the wagon, and I'm tempted to groom these guys up into my favored ranks as well, as I anticipate that they'll be much better prepared for the Darkest Dungeon when the time comes. It may mean ditching heroes of the same class, despite having invested substantially in them already. (So far I've been locking things like On Guard, Hard Skinned, Photomania, Slugger / Unerring.)

What do you think? Is Eldritch Slayer now a "must lock" quirk? Should I be aiming for Hatred of Eldritch instead? (I know that ACC becomes a problem in the DD, so I'm leaning toward accuracy v. Eldritch.)

Eldritch hater/slayer are probably one of the best quirks due to the fact that the Weald, Cove, and most importantly the DD have tons of eldtritch. In my personal opinion, hater is much better because 15% damage is better than 10 ACC, and 15% less stress is INVALUABLE in the DD.

I prefer Eldritch Hater, though I wouldn't consider either of them to be a "must have" for the end game. They're just a nice bonus if you come across them.

For the entirety of the game, there are more useful quirks to lock in like On Guard.

On Guard is the best quirk in the game, and eldritch hater is worth locking in because basically just a better slugger/unyielding if your in the 3 eldtritch dungeons

If you're going to lock in any quirks (I didn't), I think +SPD (and maybe +ACC) ones are more important than Eldritch targetting ones. Trinkets can boost your damage more reliably (IMO) than speed, and getting to go sooner is incredibly useful in Champion and Darkest Dungeon quests, if only because if you can burn down/incapacitate at least one monster before they can do anything, that's less HP and stress damage for you to worry about.
