On the old road, we found redemption - achievement mechanic?
Hello guys,

I hope that someone (dev maybe) will answer my question.

It's about "On the old road, we found redemption" achievement.
Its description is as follows "Dismas and Reynauld Made it to the final Darkest Dungeon Quest".

So what I did.

1. I had both Dismas and Reynauld alive but with changed names.
2. Rey was in 3rd darkest dungeon quest so he was "retired"
3. I entered final boss with Dismas onboard.
4. I have killed the boss but dismas died.

Result = no achievement.

So how this actually works?

I have to ENTER final boss with both of them?
Both of them have to be alive AFTER final boss fight?
I can't change their names?

I have backup save to do it again but... if the case is that they have to ENTER that quest I messed up, becasue Reynauld already "retired"

Or maybe it's just bugged?

Please someone explain how this works, I may still be able to do it.

Thanks!

Yep, they have to enter the final DD quest, so it's not any more achievable for this save file :/

the FINAL quest needs to be done with both of them finishing it

Well that is bad.

I mean... achievement description is misleading. It should say "Enter final quest with dismas and reynauld".

@Dancingstein - So Rey and Dis also have to SURVIVE final quest?

The description says that they simply have to make it there.

For me, the achievement popped up right after the party embarked. So I don't think they need to survive the quest. I didn't sacrifice them though because I already picked two disease-ridden characters for cannon fodder.

They just need to enter in final dungeon, not need to keep them alive. I know because i got it

To be fair, if someone ask me to make it to New York, I wouldn't guess I just have to survive untill someone else get there. But I'm not living in an Eldritch horros infested area.

And no, they don't need to survive it. You actually don't have to play them at all for the entire game and can just send them as sacrificial lambs at the end, but doing so is not very self-rewarding he? Your choice.

Same here. Got the achievement right as the last mission loaded. Also, a few months back redhookjohn mentioned that the achievement is tied to the hero ID of Dismas and Reynauld. This means that even if you rename them, the game should still recognize them as Dismas and Reynauld (and conversely, you can't just rename a Highwayman Dismas and a Crusader Reynaud and get the achievement).
