Personally, I like lots of character mods. Every now and again I come back to Darkest Dungeon with the plethora of things I installed and it pleases me to see such variety in the way of available characters when I've forgotten what half of them are good for and who has good synergy with who.
I recommend learning how to mod your own characters,tweak their stats and such is basically just changing numbers with notepad/notepad++
I'd say if you're into downloading them just get the ones that look interesting and don't think about mechanics.
