The stability of the mod manager is dependant on the mods that take advantage of the system. Couldn't it simply be a mod conflict rather than something the developers have done wrong?
I understand what you mean now.
Is it possible to use another mod manger that suits your needs better? I don't know anything about modding, but if it can be used with Darkest Dungeon, maybe Vortex would be a better choice than the game's mod manager when using large numbers of mods and for mod conflict management.
Looks like some people can't read. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and consider that you're not trolling on purpose, because that's absolutely not what I said.
That doesn't mean they didn't give a ♥♥♥♥. It means that it wasn't intended to handle the weight you put on it.
Edit I'm sorry you didn't like it. They tried to make you happy. I'm sorry you feel it wasn't enough, but almost every game will allow conflicts to build inside it, but it's expecting user insight to know what they're doing. I assume you didn't. Moving on.
This is OP's problem; they don't know how to organise or make sure their mods work before installing them.
I have 200-ish mods, a lot of anime stuff, but I don't have stability issues.
If you cannot find anything about that and / or still crashes when removing those that are doing the same. You have to turn them on, one by one in order of importance to you, then check if the game crashes. Does it take a long while? Yes, but it's you who chose to put a hundred mods without troubleshooting it first.
When you have done so one by one, you will eventually see which ones crashes your game. Read their pages again, most probably you'll have to just turn that mod off and forget that it exists or send a message to the modder in their page.
Congratulations, you have now done the basics for someone that uses several mods!
