Antiquarian? It's terrible!

I better emphasize on that now, people still reply to this thread as if that's still not clear.
What still is up for debate is whenever or not these passive abilities should be more clear in the game. They are not stated anywhere (that I know of).

So I admit I haven't been playing for a while and might have missed the update that introduced the seeker Antiquarian...
But suddenly there was a new unit in my stagecoach... the Seeker Antiquarian!

Off course I love new units and immediately checked her out, but...

Holy crap this unit is bad. I thought the Jester was barely helpful, but compared to the seeker the jester is a freaking knight in shining armor!
I really hope this new seeker class receives a boost... because this is not working...

For those who haven't had this unit yet:

Standard damage is 3 - 5
Standard defenses: 17 HP 10 DODGE
3 Offensive skills:
Nervous stab: 90 ACC (no further stats). targets: @ @ @ O
Festering vapors: 95 ACC -75% DMG Blight 1 - 3 pt. -20% blight resist. targets: @ @ @ @
Flashpowder: 95 ACC -100% DMG -5 ACC (no stun!). targets: @ @ @ @
4 non-offensive skills:
Get down: (Self only) +10 DODGE +3 SPD
Fortifying vapors: Heal 1 - 1
Invigorating vapors: +3 DODGE
Protect me: +5 DODGE +20% PROT Force ally to guard her

Am I missing something, or is this the very worst unit in the game? Why does it exist?

Because it's not a... "battle" unit. It's reliquarian... looter... we use him only for gold (and trinkets) gathering (he's have some NOT-battle passive skill for this) in low lvl\easy dungeon. For fast gold farming he's - realy good.

Just... dont take him for boss-hunting... In battle he's suks... Battle-reliquarian.... well... usualy it's all about: " We must hold the relics! PROTECT ME SQUIRE!!!!! Or i will poke you by my censer!" :)

Can works not so bad in "double-protections-team": Man-at-arms\reliquarian\houndmaster\arbaletist (works good... untill monster surprise you :( ).... or werewolf\jester\houndmaster\reliquarian (this one more interesting... but "stress-hard-managements" needed)... or somethin like this. 2 party member under protection.. last 2 - under huge buff.

She gets you extra gold when you do dungeons. That's her purpose.

Yep, she's suppose to be bad. But what she actually does is allows you to carry more gold (2000 stacks instead of 1500) and finds unique treasures in curios that stack really high (I think 20 or even higher). She also has camping skills that generate trinkets.

Basically a high risk, high reward type of character.

Also, the class is called antiquarian and it's a woman. "Seeker" refers to level 0 characters of any class.

Btw, since it doesn't tell you in the tooltips, "Invigorating vapors" affects the whole party.

Nah... reliquarian sounds much better!!!

antiquarian... Pfff... it's all about old dusty chairs and piss-pots! reliquarian collects relics! Not... chairs.

Exactly, and the Antiquarian isn't even bad I stack my Blight on the Swine Chopper up to 17 and almost instantly kill him, and she's only Resolve Stress lvl 2 (Level 2 in plain words). You just need to know how the ♥♥♥♥ to play the game - which most people don't...

I've never lost a character so far and I'm on week 27. It's all about skill, trinkets, right party combinations and choices about Provisions.

I can stream it if you guys don't believe me.

No Offence taken at all - I'm not saying it's impressive at all... oh, no no no. All I'm saying is compared to saying the Antiquarian is bad Hero is totally horse sh!t because I havn't lost any character since the start of the game and by that I mean her, so my point is you just need to know how to use the abilities and characters.

I buff her with Protection ring and HP/Pro trinkets, throw her in 2nd line and use her as a tank. Her blight works well enough. A medium- Long run just with level 2-3 Antiquarian can yeild you 30+K in gold if you dont pick up any heirlooms.

Mmmm.... i think we just... talking about different things. I mean: for doctor and reliquarian (like profession, NOT like a person) we can use both words - "she's a DOCTOR" \ "he's a DOCTOR".

Same for reliquarian (like profession this word havnt a... gender).

I'm supposed to be impressed? Check my achievements, I've never lost a character either. I also have played this game for 193 hours, since I've had it before it was officially released.
I just don't play it that often because I have other great games, too.

It seems you missed this in the first post; "So I admit I haven't been playing for a while"

It doesn't quite clearly say on the unit what it's passive ability is. After I posted this, I decided to just take her into a dungeon and see how it goes.
I found out what she does after that.

That is absolutely true, except for the fact that IN THE GAME certain characters are male and certain ones are female. Every Highwayman is male. Every Hellion is female. Every Antiquarian is female, and yes, every Plague Doctor is female. It is very obvious when she fails a virtue check, unless that dude is carrying 2 extra PD masks over his pectoral muscles.

I feel like the problem is that her lack of combat ability is too harsh of a trade off for what you get
