level 5 witch hag
Come on all you tactical geniuses, how do you defeat her. Had no issues with Level 1 and 3 hags.

Kept getting wiped. She keeps tossing my char into the pot every round as soon as I manage to release. I'm always left with only 3 toons to attack, 2 of 3 is needed just to attack the pot (2 hits) so I'm only left with one remnaining char to to damage.

My squad are Hellio, Highwayman, Jester and Vestal. All level 6 maxed out skills and weapons/armour. Also tried Man at arms, Crusader, Jester and Vestal.....still no luck. How the heck do you defeat her?

I personally just poor in damage have the highest possible hp character i can be in the pot, while he litterally soaks in damage i make everyone else poor in damage, but note two leppers a vestal and whatever backline damage you prefer should also work well, as one leper could be in the pot and the other SHOULD be able to one shot it, while it will more than likley alternate between the two.

I beat her by allowing whoever was tossed into the pot to simmer until they reached Death's Door, and instead focusing entirely on the Hag. To prolong the amount of time any single char. is in the pot, bring characters that are sturdy.

That means don't bring any character who cannot target Row 3 reliably or that has relatively low HP. (That means you, Crusader, Jester, and Highwayman.) Marking is helpful, as is DoT. I would say take a Hellion (If It Bleeds, Iron Swan), a Bounty Hunter (Finish Him), a Hound Master, and a Vestal.

Now I remember how I beat the previous 2 hags. Always ended up sacrificing/losing someone but this hag got way too much HP. Made some hits and barely a scratch. Using the same tactics, I might end up losing a character in the process without inflicting much damage. I've also noticed the pot does about 1/4 health damage on the victim just after one round.

My blood pressure elevates whenever I play this game, this is worse than Dark Souls.

I've always ignored the pot and concentrated on the Hag exclusively. Try a party composition like Arb - Occ - Hell - Hell, you need to be able to hit the back rows with EVERY hero, so it doesn't matter who goes in the pot.

In all honesty, I don't treat her any differently than I do the other two level varients. I take bleeders and just pump her full of DoT's and watch her melt herself, so long as at least one person continues to stack it. You'll need guaranteed heals to stave off DD's if going for the rush strat - and the AoE heal is always decent against tenderize, so don't risk the likes of Occu or Arbs (as solo healers, that is). Be prepared for healer to be grabbed as well, in which case they'll come out of the pot up-front on DD and won't be able to heal themselves if you leave her in there -- though in such cases, all your damage are free to decide between nuking Hag or busting the pot for the Vestel's sake. Depending on your overall group speed, that may not even be a problem for anyone else if the Vestel is free and in a healing spot.

Straight damage is always better than DoT when a boss has no prot. Especially since she can heal herself, killing her as fast as possible is important.

best way for me is a mark build. He-HM-Occ-Arb. high crit camping buff and iron swan is awesome, mark with the Occ or first guy you can and have at it. with luck you'll have the hag down before your character reaches zero in the pot. I NEVER hit the pot.

restring crossbow and dog biscuit and your team is doing a serious amount of damage per hit. Try to get high crit buffs and your party will do 40-60 dmg per crit per turn. Obv not ev ery turn but its a massive help just landing 1 per round.

they can all self heal bar the arbelist but if he goes in the pot then your Occ is there to heal up in the 3rd spot, Hellions adrenaline rush for herself is also very important.

I can understand your pain.

I went in with Crusader, Vestal, BH and Arbalest (not the best comp I know) and I had thought that Crusader would be able to wreck the pot in 2 turns or 1 with the BH.

What happened then was awful. She consistently took my Vestal or Arbalest, my Crusader consistently did minimal damage, she dodged the BH's bleeds like crazy and she crit healed herself THREE times... And then my Vestal was brought on DD and died before having a single chance because the Hag went twice in a row (end of turn and begininng of turn)...

I finally killed her but I felt the game was robbing me of every sense of accomplishment. That being said, it really did open my eyes to how you need to build your team accordingly for the boss' mechanics.

Honestly, in this game, you need to accept that sometimes you just won't make it through if you get a bad streak of poor luck. Retreating in Darkest Dungeon is part of the game and knowing when you need to step away from the game for a day is crucial, else you might lose a lot more than just one character.
Ignore pot, kill Hag.

Go for either brute DPS or marking and ignore the pot.
For brute damage I used 1-2-3-4- Hellion-graverobber-Vestal-Arbalist. The Hellion is MVP here i found, but dont overbuff her in case she gets put in the pot. Give plus damage trinkets esp anti human. Be wary of giants getting to her though so make sure your hellio and vestal have stun ready right up untill you rest. .

You defeated her the hard way on Apprentice and Veteran, if you dedicated 2 heroes to the pot. You got lucky, to be frank. Focus fire the hag, dot her up heavily and she dies fast.

You should do missions (on lower dungeons) that temporarily increase damage in the weald before you fight the hag witch (and other bosses)! I havent played DDfor some time but it should be a mission where you destroy relics or gather medicine or something similar.
This boss is garbage and needs a nerf. Retreating for a 2nd in a row ONLY ON THIS GARBAGE BOSS

This boss is one of the easiest bosses in the game. Also it is now 2018...
