Game Wont Even Start ( Resolved )

I just got this game on the steam sale and when i launch it the game runs for like 30 seconds and then i get an error that says DarkestDungeon.exe has stoped working does anyone have a fix

the old "darkestdungeon.exe has stopped working" bug.

there's a buncha fixes somewhere, I think in a sticky thread. lotta stuff that probably won't do anything. some stuff might though. anyways look at top of forum.

they just released town events so probably it's gonna be messy, that's what I figure. if you give it a few days maaaayybe it'll get fixed with a hotfix. maybe. not guaranteeing it.

btw personally I'm just gonna wait a few days while everyone else guinea-pigs the new release then after I think it's probably more or less stable then I'll give it a shot see what's new

i'd like to thank everyone out there that's playing the new stuff and reporting bugs

yeah i just went through all of the fixes on that list and nothing worked

i cant even play the game it like crashes as soon as it starts i have no idea whats going on but if anyone else has had this issue feel free to let me know if you ever got it resolved i just feel like i wasted $20 on something i cant even play

Well there's a lot of breaking points.

If the game runs for 30 seconds then - where does it break down? Exactly what are you doing for that 30 seconds?

Game launch successfully? (Presumably - unless you meant you launch, see nothing, then 30 seconds later get a popup error message)

Do you see the opening screen with a disclaimer? something about yadda you're supposed to fail something whatever?

Do you ever see the Hamlet?

Do you ever see a load/save screen?

Do you ever see Reynaud and Dismas on the Old Road?

Do you ever see a cutscene with a carriage moving along?

Try to write EXACTLY what you see, and in what order. That may help someone track down what's going on.

and by "someone" I mean the developers

no i cant even start a save file i can run the game and " IF " i can skip the into i can try to put in a name on the letter but before i can get it done it crashes. then other times i cant even skip the intro before it crashes like crashes right on the launch screen with the red hook logo

Yes. I didnt

I even follow all step from the top past, still not works.


You can try to run the game in Compatibilty mode if you're on Windows

* Go to \steam\steamapps\common\darkest dungeon\_windows\
* Right Click-Properties on Darkest.exe
* Click the "Compatibilty" tab
* Check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
* Select Windows 8/7/Vista/XP
* Work down from the highest version of windows listed down
