The problem is that it picks 3 dead heroes at random to choose from, so unless I manage to lose VERY few or NO more at all, I might not even get to choose Dismas.
but only if the stupid trick of letting them rot in town and take up roster space works.
This is the first time the game has shown me how suddenly a hero can go from 'just fine' to 'dead', and I'm pissed they used one of the achieve heroes as an example.
Lesson learned, sure, great, but achieve hunting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ now without much warning.
♥♥♥♥ this ♥♥♥♥.
Well, if it makes you feel better, I am doing NG+. Dismas died my first time around as well. Reynauld survived DD second dungeon, though.
Rofl, please go back to dating sims.
If so, then this early loss isn't so bad after all, cause I'm sure there's the risk of losing them in there.
I was just concerned whether I passed up the simple choice of keeping them in town even while finishing the final dungeons, but if that doesn't count...
Rofl, please get a life beyond browsing users' games to come up with clever 'insults'.
I've played and beaten many difficult games too, thank you.
One rant doesn't change the fact that I will still beat Darkest Dungeon with all default settings, I don't enjoy easy mode on challenging games.
Actually, I'd have only lost 3 by now instead of 6, but I decided I may as well go for 'lol they all died' achieve.
I am definitely wanting to focus on the 'green' dungeons for awhile though until I get better.
I am not trying to sound elitist, but the difficulty in the dungeons does jump significantly as you enter veteran and champion dungeons. Outside of Shambler and Collector encounters, apprentice dungeons should be clean sweeps. I would advise you to pay close attention to situational quirks (Ruins Phobe, Fear of Unholy, etc.) and avoid stacking too many trinkets that give you -SPD and -DODGE. Having monsters that always go first and hardly ever miss can be a serious problem, even on apperentice dungeons.
Already know about some of your tips, but thanks anyway.
I agree with you that apprentice dungeons are not difficult if you are careful. I was not completely careful with dismas (im pretty sure he wasnt at 100% hp), but it still caught me offguard how quickly he was suddenly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dead. I just wish he wasn't the first one in this game to suffer extremely bad combo of RNG events. Every other hero death was me being lazy, reckless, or the aforementioned 'might as well let them all die for that one achieve'.
Funny enough, I beat an apprentice-lvl shambler with my whole party STARTING at 25% hp and no healers (tho they had lots of bandages and anti-venom and they had lots of bleed dot to give), and no-one died. that made me wonder if game was TOO EASY. Made another topic about that encounter the other day.
Karmic repercussions perhaps?
