! GUARD FAILED !

I mean... it's not ideal, but it's probably functional.

They can do everything reasonably well; damage any position, Stun, heal themselves, group stress heal, even Guard (though with no PROT bonus)... so it'd be possible.

They don't do all that much damage, and the Bleed won't work in the Ruins or Cove. They could potentially do a lot of damage for 6 rounds each (which would be good for the Shambler), but you'd have to conserve your dog biscuits. These will take up 4 inventory slots because they don't stack above 2 for some reason.

They can't heal each other, so if one is on Death's Door, you might have to wait until after a DoT tic before he can heal himself. Same problem if he's Stunned, though in that case I suppose you can Guard him for a round (assuming you gave that skill to some of them) and hope the enemy doesn't use AoEs.

Someone did this a long time ago and reported lots of success. Not so sure about shamblers though. But I remember the evidence for the success was quite reliable, so I'd say yea for champion dungeons definitely.

It's a pretty strong team, especially in Warrens/Weald where you can do absolutely ridiculous amounts of bleed damage very quickly. Likewise, very good against any bosses that are weak to bleed. You get nice benefits from marking, can reduce PROT, have self heal and stress heal on all. A few good stuns. Yeah, it's pretty solid. Probably one of the best parties that use a single hero type, IMHO.

the guard would fail
one guy thats guarding another guy cant be guarded by another guy, it would just say GUARD FAILED and skip your turn for trying to be clever.

but yes, houndmaster team thats constantly guarding seems viable, i learned how much of a livesaver a houndmaster can be when i used him while fighting the prophet, those dodges man

i assume youd get 2 treats per HM. what is the stack size?

ugh, so 4 inventory slots devoted to treats? well thats one downside anyway.

You could just stuff your dogs with them on the first battle

Not exactly relevant, but I'm a huge fan of triple HM parties. Normally I have one focused on dodge and guarding, one on stuns, and one on damage. The good thing about HMs is that they can survive by themselves; they can self heal, stress heal and stunlock enemies. Adding a fourth HM should work pretty well, but be prepared for long battles.

I haven't run this team yet, but I plan to. In preparation for it, I edited the game files gave that party combo the name 'Dogpile' :P

I ran an Abomination/Abomination/Houndmaster/Houndmaster party for a while.

The first idea behind the concept was that every character could self-heal and stress-heal.

The second was that if you transform both Abominations and pop dog biscuits on both Houndmasters, you could achieve huge bursts of damage.

Turned out to be quite an effective boss-killer team.

For not using vestals all the time you tried really everything I guess.

Yes, this was one of my attemps to go without Vestals.

Sadly, there aren't too many classes that can do without a healer. Abomination, Houndmaster, Leper... and Lepers won't run with Abominations. :stress:
