Report a translation problem
Not sure how that can be confused as mere expression, but I would recommend starting with an Integrity Check. It's the first step you should take whenever you feel something critical is going on. If it's the result of corrupted or missing files, then the integrity check will restore it.
If that doesn't work -- and you happen to have mods installed -- then it's time to disable them all and reload. If that cures it, then you know one of the mods is causing the problem.
The one and only issue I've had with DD since 2016 -- as someone who has avoided mods (except for color palettes and faster combat text) -- was due to an easily fixed VSYNC problem, so it wasn't even the game's fault.
But that's just me. Computers and tech can be funky when it wants to be, but this seems more like a file problem than a critical tech issue.
If it's an issue that you can't click any buttons at all then I dunno what to say; never encountered that bug
