Need to rollback? Undo a mistake? Go back before a character died?
Pardon my lack of tech savvy and the vague guide.
I mistakenly sent a team towards a boss dungeon instead of a regular medium quest. I figured the first bosses were fairly easy so the team I sent in could probably take it. I was wrong and one of them died. I closed the game as quickly as I could. This was my attempt of a no death run which I had already poured a bunch of hours into.
You can guess that my desperation drove me to some risky experimentation.
-For this to work you need to still be in a dungeon before you closed the game and not in the Hamlet.
-Go to Documents/Darkest/profile_0/1/2 and/or steam/userdata/<a number>/262060/remote
-Make sure you picked the right save.
-Go to backup and save a copy of it somewhere else as a safety net.
-Keep the save folder (in my case profile_3) empty besides the backup folder until you boot up the game.
-Find the file called persist.raid and convert it to notepad or something you can edit and save.
-Scroll to the very bottom of it and you might be able to decipher some of the code and find it familiar. It seems to be the last actions that transpired during your gameplay.
-Look for each time the code says: €?time_stamp……
-Proceed to delete that code and everything bellow it and save it.
-Start the game
-If you are successful, you should be back at the hamlet with your team intact.
-If nothing happened of the save is completely reset or gone simply take the backup you made and saved in another location. Delete all the files you messed around with are replace it with that backup.
-Repeat removing different parts and amounts in that code area until you succeed!

Why not just wait for the resurrection event? It will come around eventually. I wouldn't mess around with the save game like that, it might cause issues later on even if it works at first.

Not much of a no-death run if deaths are being rolled back. May as well just use a no deathblow mod and call it a day to save time.

could you make a bit more detailed guide? I'm not sure what you mean.

so this is how I understood it:

1) locate local or steam back up files
2) Copy the profile you are trying to rollback into a separate folder
3) delete everything in copy except for folder called backup?
4) In this empty profile with just backup, look into backup and find persist.raid
5) open with a text editor
6) Find "time_stamp"
7) delete EVERYTHING after time_stamp? There is nothing "under" it. Just text after it.
8) start game? Do you mean, copy the new persist.raid into the local files? Why did we delete everything else?
9) start game.

What is wrong here?
