base vs Ancestral Edition?
DLC worth it? looks like most reviews barely 70% on them or are a few of them worth?

If you're looking for money saving just wait until the game and every DLC is available and buy it then.

its all on sale right now for like 13 just wondering what people thought about the DLC if its fun or not

it's all roughly the same quality as the base game

If you like DD, it's more DD. If you don't like DD, then it's more of what you don't like.

CC is maybe a little harder. Certainly trying to learn CC mechanics and DD mechanics at the same time is not recommended. Not a first playthrough thing.

As others have said, the DLC is all equal-quality to (and more of) the core experience, so if you like the base game, chances are you'll enjoy the DLC as well. If money is a concern, grab it on a sale, but do so AFTER you've tried the core experience by itself.

One mistake a lot of people make is buy the entire package and activate everything immediately. Not everyone is going to enjoy doing so because it's a self-proclaimed difficult and punishing game that absolutely does have a mountain of knowledge to learn, so doing all at once is going to lead to pain and misery for first timers seeing as the DLC is designed to be played from the start as part of a new save (rather than experienced at a mid or end-point of a normal playthrough when players are more experienced).

DLC is entirely worth it (imho). While there are legitimate negatives and detractors, you'll find a lot of reviews are mired in semi-related problems or bad first-time impressions, such as the "CC is obscenely difficult" crowd when played all-activated + blind. In reality, CC's just as learnable (and regrettably cheesable) as the core experience itself -- but ultimately a bunch of new layers and factors you need to learn to conquer. In the end, a single strategy dilutes practically everything people complain about regarding CC.

I got CC when Ancestral just included CC and Shieldbreaker, and turned it all on from the start. I enjoyed it fine. It does make your life more difficult. If you do it, I'd seriously recommend doing it on Radiant the first time, unless you really, really like making life difficult for yourself, instead of just merely really liking doing that.

If you do it, you will probably experience a couple cases of your roster getting so wrecked you have to start over. Do it in a new save slot, then you can have fun later coming back to wrecked rosters and trying to fix them.

If your entire roster dies of wasting and you have to recruit a new one from the wagon, they will get infected almost immediately, right? Is it reasonably possible to keep up with their blood demands or do you have to level entirely through the blood-gathering quest?

I highly recommend getting Darkest Dungeon with all its DLC. You can determine whether they're activated in-game.

To No One, don't worry about blood dependencies crippling your gameplay. You open the Courtyard by doing a quest. You can procrastinate the quest until you're ready to do it, keeping you safe from the disease as you play the game in any other fashion you see fit. The blood upkeep isn't so bad IMHO, especially if you invest in getting a town building which provides blood each week. It's very manageable, and optional.

But for a fairly cheap price (very IMHO), you gain so much content. I'd get DD 100%.

The ancestral edition included all the DLC to date right? Do I have to buy extra content outside of it?

I only once had a wasting death. It's actually pretty easy to avoid. A fun strategy, while incredibly sub-optimal, is to go full vampire. This requires actually kitting out a Fanatic-hunting team and killing him to keep your full vampire roster in shape.

The Fanatic is such a vile enemy that you can easily lose a hero, even if you plan it out perfectly and have a team specifically designed for him. But if you plan it out well you can usually kill him. RIP my favorite Houndmaster of all time.

There's also the Sanguine Vintners district. This makes it a lot easier to have a full vampire team.

First ever blind CC run when DLC was released:

Start new save, open the courtyard relatively quickly because "Mmm, shiny set-trinket", followed by early infestation and infections, leading to being forced into the Court with level 3's instead of fully prepared 4's getting blind-wrecked by shiny new bosses. Limited invitations due to the above causing a few problems. Mayhem ensues.

Any other CC run ever:

Stall the first mission so the roster is verging on L3 before even opening the Court. Do the mission, then push roster to the verge of 5, handle whatever else I want, consider doing the next mission (despite 0-5 infected heroes in total). Repeat process for Champion runs when roster is L6, gg, ez clap x2.

Above is obviously standard Darkest runs, not Bloodmoon.
