Aslo all dlc's are cool.
They're all entirely worth it.
In a solo campaign you can sometimes participate in the Circus for a match with heroes outside of your roster, that will heal some stress of the ones in the Hamlet and won't pass the week i believe, so you have nothing to lose.
I'm simply imagining PVP fights to be even more brutal than Champion Boss fights.
The cool thing is that there also a couple mods that integrate the Circus trinkets for solo campaign and rebalance them for the few effects that would't work on mobs like Stress/Death Door etc..
Musketeer (which is marked as FREE) actually does function differently to ARB in minor ways - different class-based trinkets and different effects on their abilities in Butcher's Circus (which is also FREE). Personally, I greatly prefer the Musketeer's animations and sounds compared to ARB. Whether that is worth it is up to each individual. I'm just glad you can now acquire the skin without being a backer.
Butcher's Circus has been (at best) divisive, but I won't deny I had some fun with it. Given it's entirely free, I see no reason to complain, other than the fact I would have preferred if Red Hook had spent the time adding PvE content instead, but it's still free content for people to enjoy. A key thing to remember is that all DLC has clearly been made in an attempt to be unique from everything else, so I understand why they went with the PvP route.
Shield Breaker provides a new class with a little extra content thrown in, such as Snake bosses for her trinkets that can also unlock them as roaming encounters, all of which drop precious scales that are very useful. Not bad for the price.
Colour Of Madness provides another roaming encounter and a few regular missions leading to endless mode, providing currency for even more trinket options. Also good for the price as it can burn quite a lot of hours.
Crimson Court, being the most expensive, provides the most content - a whole new campaign that is about 50% of the entire base game in size along with its own flagship class. Repeatable (random) zone, four special missions comparable to the Darkest Dungeon (very large preset maps), all of which contain their own bosses and a mini-boss, coupled with mechanics that effect the overall playthrough and add more layers to consider. Perfect for those who want an additional challenge to conquer. A vast majority of complaints about Crimson Court are related to difficulty. Spoiler, so are quite a lot of reviews about the base game itself, yet both (like most things in life) are easy when you know how. Sadly, not everyone takes the time to learn the how's.
I personally love the zone and enjoy the roaming enemies as they add more concerns to all base zones (infestation dependent), and the soundtrack is delicious.
As for the purchasable soundtrack, that is a matter of taste. I bought it and enjoyed the heck out of it - and judging by comments on OST videos (as well as the steam reviews themselves), a lot of other people do as well. 25'ish music tracks for a tenner seems like a pretty standard price in this day and age, and most of them are quite long.
So yes, they are all entirely worth it at face value - and from my own personal perspective, they are all great and worthy of recommendation.
"I heard it was bad, therefore it must be bad" - basic hearsay 101, usually by easily influenced people who are unwilling or unable to judge for themselves. There's nothing wrong with not liking something, but don't be one of those people who dislike things just because you heard some others don't either. You can always take a peek at various videos or streamers playing Crimson Court to get an external idea of what it's like. Believe it or not: CC is not even remotely as nasty as some people think.
This isn't true.
Musc have special parameters that reduce arb's amount and chances by half. Also by itself she has twice less amount and chances compared to vanilla heroes.
So chance to get any of those 2 is equal to 1 any other hero.
Yeah, but if I'm spending money and I hear more negative opinions then positive, I'm just not gonna buy it rather then wasting time to see if I like it. The game is positive, shield breaker is positive, color of madness is overwhelmingly positive, but if I see the most expensive DLC is mixed, adds mechanics that you are forced to deal with in the base game, and doesn't seem that fun, I'm not gonna buy it. It's not about being unable to judge for myself, it's about taking into consideration the circumstances of other peopls opinions. Sure, The base game recives many of the same complaints, but it has a net positive rating right? Most of the people who bought CC have played the base game, so they understand the difficulty. If it has a base mixed difficulty from people who have already played the game, i'm gonna take that into consideration if I want it. That's...kinda the point of reviews.
The Crimson court is, if anything, the best DLC. All of the DLCs are great and very much worth it.
Butcher's Circus adds a fun new dimension to the game and it was fun for me to figure out the different teams people use and how to kill them. Even if you don't generally like pvp, it's free and I imagine it would still be interesting just to play with it a little bit.
tl;dr: butcher's circus is fun; crimson court is fun.
