Figured out the gun a Highwayman uses

Since I never heard of a revolver firing grapeshot, I had to do some research. Grapeshot was used by canons, how could a revolver fire such a "round" and then switch back to single pistol shot firing?.

Turns out the very rare and limited made LeMat Revolver of the civil war era does just that. With the flip of a lever, the gun will fire a round from the chamber, or the buckshot in the lower barrel like a shotgun. The intelligence of this game blows me away, hats off to the Devs!

Well ... it's a cool bit of research, but ... yeah ... he looks more like he's carrying a flintlock to me.

It's a little hard to tell, because most of the fan art does depict him with a flintlock, but that isn't necessarily what Chris Bourassa had in mind.

no way to get grapeshot and a single pistol shot with a flintlock, as far as i know. that was the best i could do, maybe you can find better?

A smoothbore pistol can fire shot just as well as ball. It's just not going to be a lot of shot.

LeMat made some interesting designs, for sure. A few years after he designed his Revolver-Shotgun mentioned above, he produced a nine-shot-revolving-carbine with .20ga slung-under shotgun barrel[www.forgottenweapons.com].

Of course, Darkest Dungeon is set in not-Earth with fantasy weapons, so it's pointless (although fun) to speculate what some real-world equivalents might be. ;)

I think for me what was so impressive is that I always thought "grapeshot blast" from a pistol was kind of dumb and illogical. Then I learned that those guns actually existed.
