Crimson Court is without a doubt the best DLC imo. It makes the game a little harder but way funner too.
It adds soft time pressure. If you manage it poorly, it can destroy your entire roster. If you manage it well, though, it's almost a non-issue.
This applies to almost anything Darkest Dungeon. The point is to learn how to render it moot through knowledge/experience (just like the rest of the game). Unfortunately, some people's idea of doing this is to rely on mods rather than, you know, learning how to deal with it the normal way. Both the base-game and the DLC aren't much different in terms of 'apply certain knowledge to make it infinitely easier'. Alas, achieving this totally blind will involve some trial by fire.
As for the meat of the topic, CC is totally worth it. It is the largest of the DLC's and adds more to the veritable 'onion' of the base-game. I always encourage people to beat the base-game and then incorporate the DLC's for a not entirely 'fresh' but definitely 'different' experience. Helps maintain longevity before you go dabbling in the world of DD mods.
