Keep going after quest complete?
After completing quest conditions there is the option of returning to town or going on. What happens if you go on? Can you get out anytime? What are advantages and disadvantages?

The disadvantage is you have to click a second button to leave, thus taking marginally more real-world time.

But can interact with that curio on background... most of time in explore and room battle quests thou hath a curio standing there...

You can go back to that Shambler's Altar and put a torch in it :yawp:

But can you get out anytime? Or do you have to return to a certain room? If you have to walk through a bunch of rooms to get out, then your party takes a lot of stress from darkness...

You can leave the quest after finishing at any time as long as you are not in combat.

Scouting occurs after you clear the room. So sometimes if you choose to stay you can scout a secret room. Always worth the chance. You can always leave by clicking the symbol in the top left whenevr you are ready.

A lot of times, there are huge advantages. For instance, as someone else pointed out, you won, you're in great shape, and you can summon a Shambler and you're pretty sure you can curb stomp it. Why not? Even if you're wrong and it goes badly, you can retreat with no consequences.

Also any time you have substantial parts of the map (or even a tiny part of the map) to explore, why not get every single little curio and trinket you can find?

The only time I don't continue exploring is if I'm loaded up with Jute Tapestries and other massive treasure, and no supplies, and I'm unlikely to find anything more valuable by continuing, or if the party is in such bad shape that I'm just gambling with their lives for trivial benefits.

In general, I'd say the default option is to continue after finishing the mission unless it would be really dangerous, or you're so stressed out yourself you just want it over (this game seems to have a mechanic where it applies stress to the player).

Definitely keep going! On Blood Moon you have to finish by week 100. I try to find every scrap of every loot each time I run a dungeon and often bring an Antiquarian so I can carry more.

Go on until you are about to lose someone or are full of loot

You can always leave any expedition at any time by clicking the "Retreat" icon. If the quest is not complete, you still escape with all the loot that you are curently carrying. It's a crucial tactic in the game (i.e., you shouldn't think you're required to Suicide your entire party in every mission that goes wrong, when you can just Retreat back to the Hamlet).

You're also practically required to Retreat from the Crimson Court and Darkest Dungeon missions, as they require multiple forays to explore the entire map and accomplish the objecive.

It's even much easier than that. You don't have to kill the "Retreat" icon, you just have to click it :-)
