Indeed, game kinda sets you up, thinking this is a 'noob' area, area where you learn mechanics and such because it basically tells you/notifies you to go there as soon as you arrive at Hamlet. Even the enemies inside aren't much of a hassle, and you gain confidence. But then... Crocodillian.
Party wipe in first 10 minutes of the game lol ;D
And yes, getting bloodsuckers in all other dungeons DOES get annoying, especially the quantity of those. In some runs, more that half enemies you face will be suckers rather than those who are suppose to be there. As many have suggested, wait with it. The stress penalty isn't as big as you might think.
