Fanatic should give unique trinkets
Everyone talks about how difficult the encounter is, but compared to the other wandering bosses, it doesn't sound like you even get all that much for your trouble. This is too bad.

Collector can be nasty if you're unprepared, but if prepared you can stomp him handily and get some nice rewards only available in secret rooms normally. Shambler is one of the hardest bosses in the game and potentially gives good trinkets as a reward. So what does Fanatic offer?

He offers a reason to disable the Courtyard in your game

The only, ONLY benefit he gives is AFTER you kill The Countess, and that is...

Not appearing again.

You see, after killing The Fanatic, he will only re-appear after the "A Veil Lifted" Town event, when your Infestation gets to Medium and his Routine "Oh, the blood is heresy, i'm gonna hunt you!" event appears..Since I don't think you can trigger this event again, even with The Garden Guardian, it basically means that the ONLY reason you want to kill him is so that he won't appear again. I mean, Shrieker won't appear again to steal your Trinkets after you kill him, but at least he offers Gold, Puzzling Trapezohedrons, some Crests/Busts/Portraits/Deeds, and potentially more Trinkets than you had before! You want to kill The Shriekr not only to get your Trinkets back, but for the extra loot as well. There's no real drive to kill The Fanatic. He doesn't give you extra Gold, extra Crests, unique Trinkets, or even extra Normal Trinkets, all of which The Shrieker offers. He ONLY exists to be annoying, which I honestly think is a huge design flaw.

They should be "ancestral CC" like the shambler "ancestral vanilla"

I got 2 ancestors vintage from him.. hahahaha, it's not very useful
I would want his mallet. The description should be:
-That's it! Me getting me mallet!
Gains an absurd ammount of damage against bloodsuckers.

Btw, why does the Fanatic follows us? What an idiot. A courtyward full of bloodsuckers for him to kill and he goes after our silly heroes instead.

Like religious zealots ever had any reason, to begin with. Any logical argument for them is heresy and surely, work of the devil, or whatever supernatural entity is present in theirs cult.

The thing is, for a crazy old man, he's also pretty stupid. it's not a mystery to anyone in the Hamlet that the courtyard is full of bloodsuckers. He should go there instead if he wants to destroy the heretics, not follow a bunch of mercenaries.

like... should I go the courtyard where I'll only find heretics with the curse or... follow these guys into these ruins where I'll mostly just find skeletons? hmmm...

You should be thankful Bourassa got bored with his original design and gave him that mallet instead of his original 2 handed war hammer that could brand you.

You talk from standpoint of logic, and this isnt apropriate here. Once again, reason and logic do not exist to zealots. It is not stupid, it is more like deliberate ignorance.

Isn't he just meant so you should at some point be forced to fight the courtyard?

He can fight you anywhere. He is meant to hunt down the curse and all those who have been near the infected at all cost.
