Can the Countess map be escaped from without sacrificing a character?
The Countess map is Darkest difficulty. Will I have to sacrifice a character, if I try to leave early?

I don't think you have to sacrifice someone. You get a warning before you embark on a quest in the Darkest Dungeon but there's no such warning for the Countess quest. Plus you're supposed to make multiple attempts at beating the Crimson Court missions due to their large size so I highly doubt they'd make you lose a character each time.

you wont have to sacrifice character, you can leave it every two rooms without any real penalty.. i

You're "supposed" to do the Epic CC dungeons over multiple runs, there's no death penalty for retreating.
I think you still get the stress penalty for "failing" the quest though, but nothing more.

wait? So what does that mean, does it save your progress then? Or what do Epic Missions do different then long ones?

yes. the map is always the same and whatever progress you made in your last run will be saved when you go again.

Do you start back where you left at or do you have to rerun everything but now having a map already filled out and scouted?

You start by the same location (last room visited) and go on from there. You should learn that on second playthrough in Courtyard against Baron after completing the first vs Croco.

I beat the croc ages ago but never did the baron stuff cause A: I didn't have enough higher leveled people and B: I didn't know that it didn't each time and the fact it was "epic" length and vet had me assuming it wasn't able to be done easily with out a very well set up party.

Now knowing its not as bad as it sounds maybe I will next time I play... If I recover from the 2nd wiped party by that damn fanatic >_<
