The Collector: Really?
So I had one of my best runs going in this game, when suddenly some thing called the Collector shows up and kills my entire party. He has stupid health, and the pricks he spawns do stupid damage, and whenever I killed them they just kept respawning and respawning. There was literally nothing for me to do. Now I have literally nothing and I'm pissed off to no end. What on earth am I supposed to even do now? Way to deny me a good run.

I was expecting this game to be hard but dear God that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ is beyond the point of fun.

The collector is probably one of the weakest bosses atm...

You only have to focus on the hwm heads and be careful on his life steal.

You got rekt by a thing you don't know, you either learn and stand tall or get out as this game is merciless on newbies.

Just fyi: I've seen hundreds of episodes of Baertaffy dd game plays and I'm myself around 80 hours on steam... And I consider myself far from beeing an expert in the game... More so with cc release.

Be patient.

Nothing? There's always the option to retreat. The initial encounter with the Collector can be painful. In my first file he showed up in the third dungeon (one death and then retreat). You will get used to him. And not only that, you will welcome him because he drops some great trinkets and eventually becomes a cash cow.

New players are adorable. Anyone wanna take bets on what their next rage thread will be about? I'm guessing either the Shambler or the Hag.

Better steel yourself. Thats one of the weakest boss. Like the poster above said kill the Highwayman heads as they deal the most damage the others you can probably ignore and try to whittle down the collectors hp as fast as you can. Certain team comps are really bad agaisnt him if the party cannot hit him or at least move him to where your frontliners can smash him down.

Yeah sorry for not knowing exactly what to do when this prick shows up for the very first time and LOSING MY ENTIRE TEAM NEAR THE END OF A GOOD RUN BECAUSE OF IT. Why did a boss just show up for no reason anyway in the first place? Thanks but this one's going back into my Summer Sale backlog.

One strategy - Always have a person with a decent third/fourth row stun in medium/long runs - that can neutralize him fairly well for every other turn (he boosts stun resist for a round when he get free of it). Or even a Hellon with her row 1/2 stun can make the battle manageable in neutralizing 2 heads at a time.

It's rare for him to show up in a short run - albeit possible - but once you get used to him he really isn't difficult. But if you do get stuck in a bad battle with him - retreat. That game feature is there for a reason.

The collector shows up randomly if your inventory is more than 60% full - something like that.

Also just wanna add that retreat is always an option for you. You are never forced to kill the collector . Learn to pick your fights or you will lose more heroes than to just the collector lol.

Ps on my 1st encounter with him after my vestal died i just decided to fck it and run lol. Now he's actually one of the easier encounters.

Why don't you ask him?

Your loss. :steamsalty:

I first fought the Collector on my Necromancer Apprentice quest thinking he was the Necromancer. This meant I had 2 bosses to contend with whom I never fought yet on the same quest. I still came out successful.

The best advice I can give is to never leave a moment where it can overwhelm you with its croonies. Rid the croonies while finding small windows of opportunities to attack the Collector. Bleed and Blight status effects do really well on bosses when they start to stack up, and if I recall, the Collector is pretty vulnerable to both.

Please no... Red hook will never be able to survive if you don't learn to play their game.... I am sure they are going to bankruptcy and then they will make the game easier and will pray for you to play it...

Well, it'd be a shame if you quit the game over the Collector, especially if you had been enjoying it. I'll be honest though, this is a game that features party wipes. I'm assuming that your party wasn't super high leveled (maybe level 1-3?) and later in the game you could potential lose a full party who are all at max levels. If that's enough to make you quit then that's okay, not everyone has to like this game.

Unless you want to study some guides or the DD wiki, most knowledge in this game is gleaned through death or near death experiences. That's just the way it is. It can be a pain to lose that time but another way to look at it is that you just learned a valuable lesson about the Collector.

The game is about highs and lows (lows involving a lot of death). If you had been enjoying the game I'd encourage you to stick with it. But if you don't like losing people just to learn something about an enemy then that's cool too. You'll probably be seeing people die during boss fights just so you can learn a little more about how they operate.

That's easy, he's expanding his skull collection of fallen heroes.

Also, don't worry, you will see your party again, next time you meet him ;D

Yeah, my party was probably all 1s, this was a VERY SHORT run, and I'm a pretty new player. Why is everyone telling me that he's easy and I should have rolled him, and then telling me to not get salty and "live and learn" when I don't? Sorry for not being professional? I've played many kinds of games on many platforms and this is one of the most BS things that I've seen. There's a difference between "hard" and "stupid". This was "stupid".

Also, I never said I was quitting. "Going into my backlog" means "thanks, but I'll put this one away and go back to it later". Don't put words in my mouth.

You mean not retreating from the fight, I guess?

To be fair the early dungeons are damn easy that people forgot or didnt even notice that the retreat button exist :P.

I mean even i only noticed it when things got REALLY bad for me and i was thinking for a long time how to survive the encounter lol.
