should I upgrade my blacksmith to 3 before doing level 3 orange dungeons?
I had been working on the guild hall more and I only have level 2 upgrades on my weapons.

my highest level dude is 5, then I have a few 4's and 3's I want to bring up a bit so I can use my level 5 again.

I'm gonna go and do a level 3 dungeon against the necromancer, is the "level 3" a clue that my weapons should also be level 3, or with my skills being level 3 and weapons level 2 (and armour) is this enough?

I don't want to use the resources on this just now if I don't have to as I want the last 10% off upgrade in the guild hall first so my skill upgrades are cheaper (it will save gold this way, the fewer level 3 skill upgrades I need to make at 750 gold)

I just don't wanna send my guys in ill-equipped and get them mangled.

It's been a while since I played and I just can't remember exactly what I was doing when I stopped playing for a bit.

The level 3 means your heroes need to be a minimum of level 3, and preferably level 4. Ideally your heroes should have level 4 on weapons, armor, and skills. If you're going for the bosses, then you definitely need to get the blacksmith and guild to lv.4, because level 2 or 3 equipment won't get the job done. You might be able to get by with level 3 on skills for a short time, but not for long.

And you should have level 5 armor, weapons and skills before you even think about going on a champion quest. Sending under-equipped heroes to champion quests is a suicide mission.

thanks...

I have skills at level 4. my guild hall is almost maxed (only the last 2 upgrades left to get)

I think I was holding off on the armoury until I maxed the guild hall.

but yeah, my weapons and armour only have the first upgrade.

should I just move on to the armoury for now so I can do the orange missions? I think I was farming lower missions to try and finish the guild hall off previously, but I'd not played in 3 years or something so I'm hazy on what's going on.

I think I may have been operating on the info that skills are far more important than weapons and gear, so I was going for maxing out my skills first.

Definitely upgrade the blacksmith. Skills are important, but armor and weapons even more so. Grinding low missions should be able to get you up to the higher tiers, specifically the Weald and the Cove so that you can get the deeds and crests that you need more quickly.

I have a bunch of orange and red missions on the map already, I just wasn't sure about doing them yet. I'm sure I must have done some orange ones though as my intial bounty hunter is level 5, and I have 3 level 4's as well. These guys won't go into the green missions so I must have used them in an orange one I'm guessing.

so you think I should get level 3 weapons now or do some lower level stuff with my other guys first while I build up my gear for the harder stuff?

Get the level 3 gear and you should be able to do the level 3 missions, but be aware that it's risky, as your stats will be below average. The level 4 skills you have should help, though, especially healing.

And definitely bring up some of your lower level heroes. Green missions are eventually going to practically stop appearing, so you should get your level 1s and 2s up to levels where they can take on the harder missions.

damn, I only have 2 PD's I think and both are too high level.

I'm doing a team for level cove to get some portraits, but I could have done with PD.

Think I'm gonna do Vestal/Occ/Grave/Devs Vvlt (the templar dude, lol) I have not used him much tbh in my team comps. I think I had 3 specific teams and one for each area and I was more fond of using either abomination or leper, it seems I was quite fond of the hellion as well.

no doubt I had a holy and unholy team I think previously.... at least with this team they're all low levels (my crusader is level 2, I think it's the one I started with but just haven't used him much) the rest are level zero or something so I'm not that bothered if it goes tits up.

well I'm lying, I am totally bothered, ha ha. even though some of these guys were only ever taken on to be fodder, I still want my moneys worth from them.. hahahaha.

these dudes for lowb cove you reckon? I have a niggling feeling at the back of my mind that I need stuns... I seem to think I always need stuns. do I always need stuns or just for specific things?

I know certain bosses I was using stuns a lot, not sure about regs dungeons though.

really wish I'd kept my cheat sheets, man.

PS: I'm not going after the sodden crew, just doing a regular run.
PalmTree Feb 20, 2019 @ 11:40am
Stuns are always good to have, regardless of dungeon. There's only a couple of enemies that can actively resist them and most of them only show up on high level dungoens.

That party might work for the crew. GR should cover the PROT the boss has and Crusader will be able to dish out a lot of damage because the boss is always within range of Smite. The only thing I would recommend is switching out the Occultist for a better damage dealer like the highwayman, unless you plan on using him for debuffing.

what item do I use on the ancestors relic, or do I just use nothing? I can't find the info on this anywhere.

I'm in the cove. don't wanna progress as I have no idea what to do with this thing.
.VM8RA Feb 20, 2019 @ 12:11pm
I wasn't doing the crew. it's a relic run. it was on the wrong quest.
PalmTree Feb 20, 2019 @ 12:14pm
You just have to interact with the curio and it will give you the relic.

You had the right idea, I disagree with the other commenters.
You don't need level 3 weapons/armor to start doing veteran dungeons. It's much more important to have higher ranked skills than weapons /armor, so upgrading your guild hall first was correct. Rank 3-4 stuns backed by a stun trinket work very reliably on veteran level enemies, and rank 3-4 skills allow for dodge stacking and other shenanigans to shore up your defense. (e.g. antiquarian, houndmaster, etc.)

Palm is completely off, as doing champion dungeons most certainly does not require rank 5 weapons/armor. The final weapons/armor upgrade is a luxury, and most certainly not required for regular champion level content.

The +1/+2 damage that most heroes get from a weapon upgrade is often neglible, and the +health +dodge is nice, but again strongly outperformed by having correct trinkets + higher level defensive skills. The extra accuracy boost + proc chances you get from rank 3-4 skills is far more relevant than the bit of extra damage from weapons.

If ive learned anything from watching and playing DD its all about minimising your partys weakness. as much as people dont want to admit it there are some things in DD that are pure RNG (example) one of your heros getting crit 4 times in a row or more but you can have your party as upgraded as possible to minimise how hard those crits hit ect. TLDR: always be a prepaired as you can be.

thanks.

I just put my weapons capability up to 3 because I had a free weapons up grade so I gave my rank 4 hellion a rank 3 weapon. it's the only piece of gear above 2 I have so far.

I will be able to farm for the bits to get the final price decrease and then start levelling my guys up more.

it's just trying to remember the party compositions I used to use is difficult. I probably was trying to always have stuns wasn't I? this seems to be something I can remember. I think I used to stun a lot and heal up and reduce strss during battles. like dragging battles out in order to heal up and stuff like that.
