Shieldbreaker
Hey guys, i havent played much DD after crimson curse, but all the changes in color of madness got me hooked up to this game again. Since i havent played around with shiledbreaker that much i got a question, what quirks and trinkets do you usually go on her? Her dmg seems to be mix of melee and ranged so locking something like slugger seems like a bit of a waste. What do you think?
PS. hot on trot impale is pretty nasty

Her own class trinkets and the CoM trinket are pretty good. For quirks, more speed, ACC and general damage are all good. Also, something with +hp is a deent idea for her. Her own very rare class trinket is good for that.

She's a very adaptive frontliner. Her Pierce skill can target any enemy postion with an armor piercing effect on top. Her skills make her move around a lot, just something to keep in mind when forming parties. I like trinkets and quirks that increase her SPD, CRIT, ACC. Defense quirks are nice too, since she trades off low bulk for adaptibility.

I started using her recently, haven't seen her full potential just yet, but she seems really solid apart from her lowish hp.

She's one of the few where I often use both her CC trinkets to get the HP bonus.

Obsidian Dagger: +40% Debuff +40% Blight

These are ordinarily not anything to write home about but make her useful in Weald and Warrens where they more or less counteract the normal resistance to blight there. This is almost worth having by itself.

Severed Hand: +50% Blight Resist -10% Stress

This is a pile of nothing. Who cares about blight resist? The fact that it's huge almost makes you immune to a nasty DoT, though, so I suppose it's okay as nearly pointless buffs go. I also generally like any anti-stress trinket, but 10% just isn't much.

Both together: +15% HP +10% PROT Can't be Guarded

I like PROT more than HP, but this combo has both. This pulls the set out of the toilet.

Outside of Weald and Warrens, though, buffing blight is pointless, so I wouldn't use these except there and against somewhat blight-resistant bosses.

I also often use generic combos like Focus Ring + Sun Ring.

If I'm mainly going to use Melee abilities, I'd use something like Ancestor's Pen + Surgical Gloves.

For Ranged, Ancestors Pistol and/or Ancestor's Musket Ball.

For mixed, one of each.

Sometimes, I'm putting these on other people, so anything ACC boosting like Ancestor's Signet Ring or Fuseman's Matchstick would do in a pinch.

Similarly, I might prefer pure damage boosting against whatever dungeon I'm going to. So for instance Unholy Slayer's Ring and/or Necromancer's Collar for Ruins or Beast Slayer's Ring for Warrens + one of the others I listed.

For a marking party, I might throw on something like Vvulf's Tassel or the Shieldbreaker's own Fanged Speartip (although I seriously dislike its general damage debuff).

The Color of Madness Spectral Speartip also sounds potentially nifty but I don't have it yet and don't know if it actually is.

If you've got marks on your team, her rare trinket gives +35% dmg vs. marked, that's rather good. She also has an armor piercing attack which ends up doing more against targets with protection than anyone else would, so the small damage penalty vs. non-marked guys is not a problem.

I've been running her in front a lot lately, mostly using her armor piercing attack all the time, with the anti-stealth, anti-guard and aegis used here and there. What I ended up most happy with in that setup is Ancestor's Signet (+10 acc +10% prot) and heavy boots (+20% prot, ???). That's 30% solid prot on a frontliner, 10% more if I lock the relevant quirk in, also more if there's an antiquarian in pos 2. Removes all need to fiddle with her health, and I'm ok with her damage without any boosts. And frontliner would like those trinkets, but they don't do armor piercing, so with them it's a compromise between that and adding damage. Not with her.

I also like running her in the back for the really good blight and moving back and forth with a Crusader or something of that sort. That seems to be rather good before you've got your trinkets of choice. Anything that involves Ancestor's Signet takes a rather rare trinket. So for that you can go with pretty much anything - most likely a +acc trinket and the other one could be a health booster.
