How to use Antiquarian?
The stacking dodge buffs are nice, but I just feel like she lacks any solid contribution to any party lineup.

What am I missing about her?

Thanks man, it seems strange that her looting strength isnt highlighted in game prominently

You should eventually notice you're getting two specific kinds of loot only with the Antiquarian and they only show up on Curios when you actually use her to interact with them, but it wouldn't hurt for there to be a popup the first times it happens.

The dodge buff is insane. Just that + increased loot make her a perfectly viable. Just remember to open all the curios with the Antiquarian.

she allows for the aquisition of two new and valuable loots, she also increases the stack sizes of how much of certain loots can be carried per slot. most obviously is gold...you can carry notably more with an antiquitarian in the party, and i believe these stack size buffs stack with each one you bring along.
in summation, they bring home the fat stacks of cash...but they aren't very good in combat. especially since they put a limit on how many times she could use the protect me move. one of my favorite combos with them had been to have the highwayman riposte, and then she has him protect her. that way he gets free swings on anything that attacks either of them, and with her dodge buffs as well he's pretty good at not getting hurt in the process.

She is the definition of "High risk High Reward"
Raizemberg Nov 12, 2018 @ 2:18pm
Just use her with a MaM or HWM and combo her reverse defend with a ripost.

Also, dont forget to loot with her. It is so easy to forget to use her to interact with the Curios. I forget all the time.

Besides that she is basically useless.

You get almost double treasure on average with her in the party - and if you use her Guard in conjunction with a Riposte on either MAn-At-Arms or Highwayman you effectively double the chances of a counter-attack. Early game I used a Man-At-Arms, Antiquarian, Highwayman and healer (usually Vestal but for short dungeosn or you wanna be a bit riskier, Occultist). With the firsr few moves as Riposte on Highwayman, Riposte on MAA and Guard (from Antiquarian on either the MAA or Highwayman) you will counter 3/4 of all enemy attacks. And you will build up your money much more quickly. Money stacks to 2500 per stack with Antiquarian in party, plus she finds other relics which can stack significantly. You can easily make £20K even in a shorter green dungeon early on and often much more, £40 or £50K sometimes!

That's true but deliberate I think... when one is added to your party though, you often get the text and speech "She sees what others cannot see..." which is a subtle hint though!

nonsense. she's the best tank for a blight team, hands down.

what do you need with a blight team? time for your blight to wear down the enemy and stack more blight.

how does she contribute?

1. she's nearly impossible to hit once leveled and with set gear plus crystal gear (86 dodge, and it caps at 90).
2. you put her right in front, number one slot.
3. she has a decent blight attack of her own, but the MAIN thing is she has a HUGE debuff to enemy resistance to blight as well. 36% at level 5 IIRC (which stacks).
4. her flash powder will make even bosses miss constantly, while the blight eats away at them.

really, you guys are NOT using her right if you're just using her for antiques.

this is the single most flexible team in the game, and can literally kill 90% of everything in the game:

1. antiquarian build for crimson court set, use crystal item that gives 35 dodge and final item to boost speed and debuff chance; start off with festering vapors on big or resistant targets, then use flashpowder.
2. shieldbreaker - use captivate for blight, keep position unless moved or you need pierce/break guard, then impale back to use more blight.
3. plague doctor one
4. plague doctor two

or switch 3 up for occultist for bigger heals and better raw damage and debuffs, especially against eldritch.

i wouldn't use a blight team WITHOUT aunty blight witchy; she matches up so perfectly.

the swap for occultist at 3 makes it the perfect team to farm for crystals too, since you aren't trying to kill everything fast, but just kill 2 at a time.

only weakness is no dedicated stress healer, but since so many of your units do aoe attacks, you usually will get enough crits to string your stress damage out a LONG time. bring laudanum to help, and for farming crystals, use the crystal pipe or cape (or both!) to constantly lower your stress damage every time you kill something.

I let the antiquian pack 1 dodge and 1 heal buff item, if you stack it with man at arm's dodge buff

Hell you be dodging for days. Her weak as heal would suddenly be enough since you hardly ever get hit, and just get him to keep stacking the dodge buff. You can stack up to 20 at a time while man at arms give another 10, then use the extra dodge to trim down enemy team. If you have the heal stone you can let rest of the team wear it so the antiquian heals up to nearly 12 per puff

Of course antiquian's core power is really looting and dodging, if you want more devastating firepower from a support position I would go plague doctor (plus the heal saves you antitox and bandages)

Don't know if it has been said, but i recommend only take Antiquarian for short dungeon. For others, you are most likely full inventory at the end anyways. For small it helps you fill the inventory a bit more. It's also less problematic to fill a spot if the dungeon is short.
Ichthyic Nov 17, 2018 @ 10:35am
^^ nope. exactly the reverse. you want to take your aunty on long adventures, if the goal is to make money. keep your team at 50 light or below, and you will come back with dozens of her high end antiques.

my last long run made me over 126k

really.
