OP found out why +deathblow resist is one of the worst possible stats on a trinket. Or a quirk, for that matter. It's only rivalled by things like +healing at camp.
Choosing a trinket that gives you deathblow resist means you didn't choose a trinket that could keep you off death's door in the first place. It's like choosing a buff that gives you fire resistance when your hair is on fire when you could have chosen one that keeps your hair from catching on fire.
Or a trinket that would help you kill things faster, which invariably helps prevent DDoor in a lot of cases, especially boss fights. The longer a fight goes, the more chance negatives rolls have of going through.
Deathblow Res is something I never have and never would spec for as your goal throughout the game is often to avoid that situation at all costs - and this is typically done better with almost anything else, be it speed, accuracy, damage etc
Honestly, if you have 95% deathblow resistance, there is still a 5% chance of deathblows happening 100% of the time. Just like you might have a mere 5% chance to crit yet it just seems to happen again... And again... And again.
Unlucky is the word.
13% is low but it hppens
That's sort of what I meant, in that nearly any other kind of trinket, such as a +ACC, +SPD, +DMG, +Dodge, +PROT, etc. etc. etc. reduces your chances of ever hitting death's door, though I'm listing them in somewhat descending order of preference.
So almost any other kind of trinket is preferable to the death's door trinkets. About the only character who tends to hit it a lot and survive is Flag but even with him I don't use those and don't deliberately take him to DD or even leave him low on HP, buffs or no buffs.
No, more like if it's a direct hit you will do something about it. You don't get the chance with a dot.
