Anyone play the Switch version? Is there an EASY mode?
I heard this game has a mode that makes it a little easier. Is this true? I heard that bit on a Switch youtube video but maybe this Steam version has this "easy" mode? I'm a casual game, and the ONLY way I would dive into this game is if it has an easy mode. On the standard setting I heard this game is "brutal". I'm not sure if that's because its "hard" and/or it's extrememly redundant.
So is it both? Easy mode can offset the difficulty for me BUT the redundancy is concerning. Oh and one more thing; does this game track any stats like total kills, deaths, completions, restarts or anything else "trackable"?

All versions of the game have an Easy Mode. It's called 'Radiant Mode', and it doesn't make enemies easier to kill, but it instead alters a lot of the rules to make other parts of the game faster and easier (for example, it reduces the cost of upgrades for heroes and town buldings to half their normal cost, as well as allowing you to take high level heroes into low level dungeons) The game itself recommends it for a first playthrough.

In response to your other questions, the game is definitely hard. It is hard, but it's also very forgiving (Even moreso in Radiant Mode).

The game doesn't keep track of total monster kills or anything, but it does keep track of your total number of deaths (This is important to the hard mode, as you can only let a handful of characters die on the hardest difficulty) The game also keeps a record of the outcome of every quest you undertake and never deletes any of it, so you are able to see how many successful quests you've had in comparison.

I wouldn't say the game is redundant, but the normal mode (Darkest Mode) is very grindy, as you need to gather tons of items to upgrade with. Easy mode really does help to remedy this with the lower costs for upgrading, as grinding for upgrades was what I spent a lot of time doing in the normal mode.
The game is challenging and features a steep learning curve, so it's perfectly normal to struggle when you first pick it up. There's a disclaimer when you start up the game informing you of this.

The difficulty is appropriate to the setting and world-building game. It's intended to be stressful and does a better job giving you a sense of dread than most horror games / movies. It feels like a unique experience. But yeah, it can be pretty grindy.
I’ve already given up. 1st problem is I got the Switch version which makes it hard to play because of all the micro font. The othr problem, for me personally; the game is just not intuitive enough. 1st issue I had was the game telling me one of the guys in my party was not fully equipped. I checked. Didnt find the problem. Nothing is highlighted to guide you at the start. Tons of numbers displayed all over the place. Nothing is simplified, just tons of info jammed into the ui. Watched some video showing how you need to micro-manage-inspect every character to make sure your team works together. I understood coming into this game it was a “hard” game but didnt expected the difficulty of how to play it properly. There’s lots of game that are easy or tricky to play but are hard. This game is hard in every aspect and I hate games that turn “how to play” into an unintuitive struggle. I’ll find something lighter... for ex; on iOS I found Evillibrium (much simpler to learn than this game but has a similar style).
