I dont think you will be able to get far with your setup but you can try.
Enyone had differnet experience? Is the Hag in there? Does the achivement for killing them all work?
Any particular obvious reason or you just don't like the setup?
No maybe it works but i think its risky just in case you have a really bad boss fight.
But still go try maybe Im wrong and you just own it.
The randomness of bosses can be a true killer, I also did a full dodge run and it was working great, but if I ran into the hag it would have been insta-game over.
Yes, basically. I lucked out and simply got straight Virtues (actually no, I did get an affliction in between Virtues, but washed it off with the Crusader), but I did bring in two Virtue Rings (+25% chance), and two almost afflicted guys who hit 100 on the first turn. Being casual and mindless I even forgot to swap the rings to the other guys next round.
Shambler just went down, didn't even touch me. Someone might, though, overconfidence, slow killer and all that... Got a Jester-only trinket, shame.
What helps is figuring out the regular Farmstead composition and how to properly stall it, and noticing stalling opportunities elsewhere. It's... well, it's actually not even easy.
But now I'm kinda in luck, I suppose and things are going smoothly. Maybe there's a boss out there which can mess me up, or maybe a really nasty combo of enemies. I have no idea what I'll do vs. the Thing and it's insane protection for example. And honestly I only got through the Miller and the Sleeper because I knew when they'll crop up and adjusted my skills. Wasn't the best Miller team it turned out, and I barely recovered from that fight, but I beat the Spleeper up really well.
I also seem to be dodging a crazy lot of the time. Does Vigorous bump dodge chance?
I tried doing it several times, it only worked this time. Either it's really luck dependant or I finally got better at it due to some tips I got in the meantime. What's your exact problem, maybe I've been struggling with it too?
Or just add me on Steam, and you can check out what I'm doing and compare with what you're doing. Who knows? I wouldn't mind seeing how other people play, either...
Think the farmstead is the RNG fest Red Hook always wanted but never quite actually built.
Wouldn't go so far as to call it an RNG fest. Well, ofc it is one, it's an endless series of battles, but not the way you'd think. It's not over once you have 4 virtues, they can fall off.
And Red Hook were very paranoid about not making a RNG fest, trust me on that one. With the game I mean.
As for progress, I just managed the Thing. Ended up with Sky Taint on my BH. Two rooms before I had a nasty situation - enemies got +10 dodge and were all stress dealers, so my BH had his virtue drop off. Picked up "Focused" on him a bit later, which I'm not sure is better than Vigorous (being randomly healed is nicer than I thought it would be).
I also had a big stroke of luck after the Thing with the mass-destress curio. However, out of 5 rooms in this wave ony 2 had any curio at all, and the trinket was another identical copy of the Jester-only thing, so it's eh, not that lucky. I mean, I seriously screwed up my trinket and neglected the all-importan +acc, and now out of 6 trinkets I found one is kinda ok (+15% stun chance) and one is meh but at least usable (+40% healing received) and 4 are duds. So you win some you lose some.
No achievements yet, ehiter.
So, Shambler and Thing down, bunch to go. My guys just got somewhat de-stressed (a few Virtues were threatened), but I've got 2 mortality debuffs and haven't seen a fireplace in a while.
