As of now he's the only big-number healer that can perform at high potential from the front two ranks. I mean, we could mention Crusader, but nobody in their right mind takes Battle Heal when his Stress heal does only 1-2 less as a stress-heal (neither of which heals for much) - and we could mention an R2 AoE heal Vestal, but having her there just to do that will stifle a lot of damage (or stun) opportunities from others.
Though divine grace is just straight-up a better heal. Occultist doesn't have any +heal trinkets and has to make do with generics. Vestal +heal trinkets easily add up to +50% heal even without added stress, which means divine grace averages more than wyrd + junia's head.
I still prefer the occultist for speed and flavour, but it's a little insulting to be so thoroughly outclassed.
Ancestor's Scroll + Junia's Head. Or just give him a Cleansing Crystal to render the bleed basically harmless. Leveling the heal is pretty important, extending the maximum also means you extend the number of possible rolls for it, which means it'll do more on average.
This,
also a lot seem to recommend the + heal items like Junia's head, but you are still completely RNG-bound and those trinkets will have limited impact on a sub 10 roll.
Now his heal still isn't as good as a vestal's, his damage is sad and he can't debuff either.
not as important as keeping the bleed chance below bleed resist.
So? I've yet to run into real issues with that, evne when taking him into the Darkest Dungeon itself.
To the contrary, his heal is a hell of a lot more powerful than that of the Vestal if somewhat less reliable. And he can still debuff quite a bit still.
Completely disagree, and I suspect that you following this ridiculous notion of yours is exactly why you are have such a low opinion of his heal. You are minimally reducing the risks while giving up on huge benefits, in complete contravention of the way the ability fundamentally works, making it no surprise that he won't be able to keep pace. The odd bleed is not an issue and he'll outheal it hard unless you are extremely unwise in picking your targets.
And of couse this all ignores his whole toolbox that he can bring together with the healing.
