Activating the Musketeer (free DLC) can also be done at start and as it's really just a re-skin of the Arbalest, Red Hook just split the difference for how often they show up on the 'Coach.
Personally recommend not starting the Courtyard until you have upgraded your town's basic buildings to a healthy extent (which varies for everyone). Week 25+ is my general rule, but meh: whatever works.
Note that enabling the Courtyard at start is probably a pretty good idea if you're on a Bloodmoon run: gotta get in their fast and show of that Champion meta-mind backing up your novice mercs.
i have beaten the game on console including CC and i had at least one level 6 for each class, all upgrades and buildings (appart from the red hook) and have a gameplay style that focases on bleed damage more than anything. (not for ruins)
so i know what i'm getting into i just don't wanna shoot myself in the foot.
i would also note that i did try bloodmoon however i quickly gave up after the second enemy encounted in the first dungeon was a collector that killed dismas.
edit: also do mods affect achivements? i know they do on console.
Understood. I still wouldn't start until until week 25'ish but mostly because I like to have a good set of choices (and quirks) for what to bring in to the Courtyard, at any point. Mods do NOT affect achievements, as stated by a PSA that should still be stickied in this forum. :)
Edit: Also, be aware you won't gain access to certain quirks without activating 'Color of Madness,' such as [/i]Luminous[/i].
But yeah might as well just activate it at like week 20-30.
is it after you enter the courtyard for the first time?
i know the town is abuzz is weak but its still tho.
i was going to enable it when i'm ready but you need invatations to enter and they take a while to build up.
Infection starts after completion of the first Courtyard mission, I believe. In honesty, I always make point of completing the first mission immediately, because it's short (relatively) and I make a point of going in with a level 1 & 2 group that has maxed equipment and combat abilities.
On invites, true, but you do currently get an invitation immediately after defeating the initial boss of any Courtyard mission, which certainly helps. Also, the infection-incursion keeps rising regardless of what region you visit, though I have to admit it's actually been a while and I don't remember how long before the enemies that drop the invites start showing up (I know the level, I just can't remember the timeline).
Usually then I blitz through CC until I am at the final boss, then I delay killing the boss until I am done with every other boss in the game. The crimson court bugs are a lot easier to deal with than the high level standard enemies.
Yeah, sounds about right. For me, I prefer to build up a fair bit of the town first, but there's a certain emptiness to that, since part of the gain to looting the Courtyard is the massive amount of heirlooms and gold you can gather.
