Just lost my first full party...
Decided to go on a level 5 quest with a full level 6 party after taking a break for months. The first one to fall was my highway man (the one from the start of the game) and shortly after my healer fell which basically meant death for the rest of the party. After her my leper fell and the only one left after was my hound master. He lasted a while and I managed to get him out of the room but he died from bleed before I could save him. While this is a very good learning experience, my moral is at an all time low along with my money...

As well as your time! I must admit I cherish my highwayman because I still have him, think it might have been designed for everybody to get attached and have that sense of loss, we love this game for this core value of appreciation, appreciating what you worked for and those we depend on can not always be around, values to be learnt playing this

Funny, I usually end up taking the few month break after I lose a level 6 party (with all my nice trinkets) and then proceed to hurl my computer accross the room (in my head)... It's even worse trying to get the achievement "On the old road we found redemption...". Losing Dismas from a Bone General crit followed by a high-speed roll deathblow from a Bone Royal (and not being able to wait for the revive event because I was also getting the speed run achievement) was one of the more viscerally painful moments I have ever had in a video game. I guess it speaks to the quality of the game, that it can get you really quite attached to your high level heroes, even if I spend a fair amount of my time wishing there was a way to undo permadeath.

I will say that taking on that high level quest after such a long break was probably a very poor idea. But my confidence took the best of me.

I thought losing my level 5 grave robber and healer (I forgot the class name) was bad, losing the whole party was on a whole nother level. It's going to be tough to recover from this.
The way to go for this game is to have two decent-high levelled parties to adventure with.

Losing a hero would already be a very good indicator to retreat from combat and the quest itself, imo. I have 20+ hours in and haven't lost any heroes.

Unfortunatly I lost those three members in one turn. And like I said the fourth died right after.

Holy... How did that happen? AOE crit? But shouldn't that put your party on death's door?

A fight right before the room and poor choices on my end plus a little bit of that bad rng.

I'm glad my first full party wipe was when I sent a party of 4 level 0s to the Darkest Dungeon with no supplies.

LMAO. BTW do you get any penalities if you send a junk "scouting" party ahead and purposely lose all of them?

Well for starters you lose the heroes and although not really bad those dead heroes go to the graveyard and may be randomly picked for the "from the grave" event that allows you to save 1 of 3 fallen heroes. You don't really gain anything unless you have a bank and/or sanguine vintners. If you're gonna perform runs like these atleast retreat with 1 guy so you can reap whatever they collected and then dismiss him.

No, there are no penalties, except the deaths themselves. I did that once to temporarely get rid of Vvulf.

btw he did this action because of an achievement, that's also why "no supplies" and for sure no trinkets.

As Crystal Method had put it, "thats the naaame of the game". Seriously though, that does suck.

Wow sounds like a good strategy. Pile up like 4 antiquaries and run whoever can make it if the party does badly lol.
