Any way I can tell who's turn is going to be next?
Because sometimes I dont get it, I have 7 speed and the pig with 2 speed goes before me, twice, like wth? How do you know the turn order?

its a combination of both Hero speed and random number (1-8)

your hero: 7+1=8
Enemy: 2+8=10

So whats the point in going for speed to go first when its just random anyway?

because higher base speed heroes will overall go faster statistically, despite not going first every time.

Yes, hero speed plus the RNG calculation determines round order and you can never determine who will move before each other unless you have heroes with speed stat +/- 8 from the enemies.

It infuriates me when their hard hitting enemies survive round 1, only to then go first next round (despite being statistically slower than three of my four heroes) and deal horrible crits. Again, that's all part of the game build where you can't cheese fights by equipping a few speed trinkets and guaranteeing yourself to go first every time; if you want to guarantee you'll outspeed then it will take amazing speed trinkets, speed-focused positive quirks, upgrading weapons or armour and maybe even then some speed-focused buffs/enemy speed debuffs from round 1, unless of course you're fighting REALLY slow enemies and in that case you'll probably just go first every time anyway!

The point is, having higher speed is generally attractive especially for your healers/stunners, but I do see why the RNG is there, considering a core foundation of the game is manipulating the RPG towards your favour rather.

Sure, you can tell who will go next: if you need someone to go first, they will go second. Prepare for the worst case scenario.
However, having high speed will prevent it from being a problem in the first place. My favourite party is Don't Try This At Home, PD-JES-♥♥♥-OCC, where the lowest speed is 8, and I still go for +speed quirks and trinkets. (Though not battle ballad, that ♥♥♥♥ is terrible.)
